Micromax sub-brand Yu today announced the YU ACE smartphone that it has been teasing since the past week. The YU ACE is a budget smartphone and the company has made it clear it will take on with the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A as it teases ‘Forget Mi. YU decide!’
Shubhodip Pal, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer of Micromax believes that the YU ACE smartphone is a gamechanger in the sub-6K category.
As for the specs, the YU ACE features a 5.45 inch FullVision display with an resolution of HD+ (720×1440 pixels)and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It comes with a slick design with small bezels and 2.5D protection on top. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core MediaTek 6739 chipset coupled with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal storage which can be further expanded by a microSD card.
In the optics department, the device sports a single 13MP camera on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front with selfie flash. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and is backed by a removable 4,000 mAh battery. The company has promised that it will get an Android 9 Pie update later on. It supports Face Unlocking and it also comes with a circular fingerprint sensor on the rear. It will be available in Charcoal Grey, Elektric Blue, and Rose Gold color options.
As for the price, the 2GB RAM + 16GB internal storage variant will come at a price tag of Rs 5,999 while the higher 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage variant will cost Rs 6,999. The 2GB variant will go on sale exclusively on e-commerce website Flipkart from September 6, 2018 at 12PM. The next flash sale will be held one week after on September 13, after which the smartphone will be available for sale. The 3GB variant will available towards the end of September. At this price it seems to compete with all the budget smartphones in the country.
