Xiaomi Unveils Mi Mix Alpha & Mi 9 Pro 5G! Future of Smartphones is Here?



The wait is finally over for all the smartphone enthusiasts as Xiaomi has officially unveiled the all-new Mi Mix Alpha and Mi 9 Pro 5G. A couple of days back, the company had made an announcement regarding the launch of the products. Today, at an event in Beijing, China, Xiaomi revealed the Mi Mix Alpha, one of the most exciting results of ever-evolving smartphone design, technology, and innovation.

The Mi Mix Alpha is neither a consumer product, nor a concept phone – To be precise, it’s a smartphone that bridges the gap between the current smartphone design and futuristic ideas, but the phone also brings 5G. The Mi Mix Alpha has a display that wraps around, and apart from a small vertical strip on the back where the camera module is placed, the entire body of the phone is a display. There are minimum bezels on top and bottom. Xiaomi has used some sort of modern display acoustic technology that replaces traditional earpiece receiver and proximity sensor. The display size is huge, 7.92-inch flexible OLED, to be precise. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC, coupled with 12GB of RAM. The phone packs a big 4,050mAh battery with 40W fast charging.

In terms of camera, the Mi Mix Alpha is the world’s first smartphone to have a camera crossing the 100-megapixel mark. There is a triple camera setup on the back that houses the 108-megapixel Samsung HMX sensor as the primary camera, a 20-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a 12-megapixel camera for portraits. There is 512GB onboard storage, and the phone runs MIUI Alpha OS, based on Android. The Mi Mix Alpha comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor and just like the Mi 9 Pro, it also supports 5G. Xiaomi has also shared a few camera samples to showcase the capability of the new 108-megapixel Samsung HMX sensor, onboard the Mi Mix Alpha. You can check the photos here. The phone will be produced in limited quantity and will go for sale in December for 19,999 Yuan or around $2,800.

Apart from the Mi Mix Alpha, Xiaomi has also introduced the Mi 9 Pro 5G. The Mi 9 Pro 5G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+, coupled with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. However, based on RAM and ROM, there are four variants – 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256, 12GB+256GB and 12GB RAM+512GB.

The phone packs a 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. In terms of camera, the Mi 9 Pro 5G comes with triple camera setup on the back- A primary 48-megapixel camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The Mi 9 Pro 5G packs a 4000mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging and 30W wireless fast charging. It also supports reverse charging of up to 10W. The 9 Pro 5G runs Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 11 skin on top. The Mi 9 Pro 5G is priced at 4,299 Yuan. In China and will go on sale on September 27.
