Xiaomi is well known for its delay in the version updates. Even though they launch the MIUI global ROM, it would take time for the company to roll out the update to its latest devices. MIUI 10 brings new features like AI Portrait, AI Preload, Driving Mode to the devices. AI Portrait is similar to the Portrait mode mechanism used by Google in their Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL where the bokeh effect is implemented through software without utilizing any dual cameras.
AI Preload is yet another feature which reduces app loading times by pre-loading the most used apps of the user in the memory so that it could be used without any delay. There is also a new recent apps menu which the applications are vertically stacked. It has incorporated full-screen display gestures as seen on the iPhone X where the navigation bar can be skipped. There may be more features which may be implemented on the global ROM. We’ll have to wait till June 7 to know the exact features of the global ROM. We expect the company to announce the time frame in which the newest MIUI 10 will be available to users on their devices.
