Published

on

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 6 series last month in China. The Redmi 6 and the 6A were launched together while the Redmi 6 Pro was unveiled later on. The biggest change from the predecessor Redmi 5 series was switching from Snapdragon to MediaTek chipsets. Now according to a new report, the Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6A may come to India in September.

In case you forgot, Xiaomi wasn’t actually allowed to use Mediatek chipsets in India. Since 2014 after a court case with Ericsson, Xiaomi was banned from using MediaTek chipsets in their smartphones. The case was settled now, which allows the Chinese smartphone manufacturer to launch devices with MediaTek chipsets in India.

The Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5A was launched last year March and November respectively in India. So it’s highly unlikely the company will launch the upgrades early and will wait till the stocks finish. Unfortunately, there is no word about the Redmi 6 Pro launch in the Indian market as of now.

All three variants will have expandable memory via microSD card.

The Redmi 6 sports dual cameras in the rear of (12MP + 5MP) configuration while the front will offer a single 5MP camera for selfies and video calling. On the other hand, the 6A offers a single 13MP rear and a front 5MP camera sensor. Though they both feature a rear mounted fingerprint sensor they support Face Unlocking too.

They run on Android 8.1 Oreo with Xiaomi MIUI 9 running on top of it and is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery. The Indian prices of the devices are yet to be announced but are expected to be priced similar to the Chinese variants. The Redmi 6 variants cost 799 Yuan (Rs 8,000 approx) and 999 Yuan (Rs 10,000 approx) respectively while the 6A comes at a price tag of 599 Yuan (Rs 6,000 approx).

Earlier we knew that Blackberry’s Indian licensee, Optiemus would be launching two new Blackberry smartphones- Blackberry Ghost and Ghost Pro. Even the previous reports and leaks referred to the phones using that name. However, today, popular tipster Even Blass has said out that the phones will be named as Blackberry Evolve and Evolve Pro. He further clarified that ‘Ghost’ was just a codename for the device.

The device, codenamed Blackberry Ghost was a thing for the first time a few months back and then some renders emerged. Recently we heard that the phone will pack a big 4000mAh battery.

As of now, the rumors claim that the Blackberry Evolve and Evolve X will sport a futuristic look from 2018, i.e. a bezel-less display. However, we are not quite sure about the implementation of the bezel-less design as the renders showed no sign of notch.  Though the renders point towards a glass and metal build. In other markets, Blackberry partnered with TCL, but even with those phones, Blackberry seemed to stick with mid-sized batteries with only one exception- Blackberry Motion. Blackberry Motion is the only smartphone from the brand packing a huge 4000mAh battery.
