We’ve a brand new shocking story about Xiaomi devices, which can change the course of Xiaomi devices for ever if true.
Xiaomi might stop allowing boot loader unlock for their devices (for specific devices or all of them).
We’ve got our hands on a leaked internal screenshot of a chat with Chinese Xiaomi software team, by a Redmi Note 5/Redmi Note 5 Pro Dev. Take a look at it, and the translation of that is given below:
SIM card requirements, and need to wait for a certain period of time, the rules are as follows: 1, after binding the account and the device, 2018-08. 31 00:00:00 before the model to 15 days (360 hours) can be unlocked 2, All phones bound from 2018-08-31 00:00:00 need to wait for 15 days to adjust to 30 days. The waiting time for binding before this time is still 15 days. 3, for security reasons, prevent batches. Brushing, the waiting time is adjusted to 60 days for the user’s binding. 4. From December 1st, 2018, the Bootloader unlock service will be closed. For security reasons, it will be upgraded from the MIUI10 stable version and cannot be downgraded to 1 (except in special cases).
What it basically means is that, the bootloader unlock time might be extended to 30 days and from December 1st 2018, the bootloader unlocking will be closed.
Well, that is pretty shocking considering the fact that Xiaomi devices have historically got the most developer support in the industry. Their current phones such as Redmi Note 5 Pro & POCO F1 has one of the most active development community in XDA.
Now, this comes from a whyred dev (code name for Redmi Note 5 Pro/Redmi Note 5 Global Variant), so it is possible that this might be applicable only for Redmi Note 5 Pro only currently. It is not sure if it is applicable for other Xiaomi phones.
UPDATE: Here’s what Mishaal Rahman got to say about the same:
There are rumors floating around of Xiaomi closing down their bootloader unlocking service soon. No official comment from Xiaomi, but it seems to be fake. The person who originally reported this now says the info is false. pic.twitter.com/8s3yxIF1UY

Qualcomm Gets 5G Ready: Snapdragon 765 5G SoCs Along With Snapdragon 865 Launched
Qualcomm, at its fourth Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii, has announced three new smartphone chipsets. The company has announced the new Snapdragon 865 SoC along with Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 756G. The Snapdragon 865 is the company’s flagship SoC which is better than Snapdragon 855 and 855+ in many aspects like graphics, performance boost, and AI. But the chipset doesn’t have an integrated 5G modem, instead, it supports an X55 5G modem, which was launched earlier this year. So, next year, even if we see flagship phones being powered by Snapdragon 865, offering 5G connectivity, we will have to make a deal with battery power for sure. However, the company has not provided all the details and shared technical aspects today, more details will emerge in the next two days.
Apart from Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm also announced the two mid-range chipsets- Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G. These are the most interesting chipsets announced today as these will have integrated 5G, and also, these chipsets will make their way to more affordable phones. The biggest details about these processors are 15 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second) speed, offered by Snapdragon 865 and in terms of the Snapdragon 765 and 765G, the biggest highlights are HDR10 4K video recording and support for up to 192-megapixel camera sensors.
Apart from the chipsets, Qualcomm announced its new in-display fingerprint technology called 3D Sonic Max. As per Qualcomm, 3D Sonic Max offers 17 times larger recognition area compared to that of the previous generation. With the new 3D Sonic Max, users will also be able to use more than one finger simultaneously for authentication.
In terms of first users of these chipsets, many prominent smartphone makers have already lined up and planned to use the chipsets in their latest devices. Xiaomi has announced that the Mi Note 10 will be launched in the first quarter of 2020 and it will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset. It will be one of the first smartphones in the world to be powered by the flagship chipset. Oppo will also launch a phone with Snapdragon 865.
In terms of more affordable phones, HMD Global owned Nokia will be one of the first ones to launch a smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 765 mobile platform. Xiaomi VP Lin Bin also announced that the company will launch the Redmi K30, powered by Snapdragon 765 soon with 5G support. It was already known that the Redmi K30 is being launched on December 10 and now, if that phone supports 5G then it may probably end up being the first mid-range smartphone supporting 5G connectivity.
Motorola’s President Sergio Buniac also made claims that Motorola will bring phones with Snapdragon 765 and 865, and he also stressed a bit about the developments going on regarding foldable phones. So, maybe we can expect the next edition of Razr Phone launching next year with the latest chipsets and 5G support.
Apart from these brands, Realme and Meizu also made claims of bringing phones with Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765. These are some rumors that Realme X50 may come with the any of the new chipsets and with 5G. Meizu claims that it will be the first company to actually put a Snapdragon 865 SoC powered smartphone in the hands of the consumers. As of now, it’s not very clear who will be able to hold the title of first Snapdragon 865 powered phone or Snapdragon 765 powered phone, but this cold war among brands will surely turn interesting in the next few days as it has been confirmed that the Redmi K30 is coming with Snapdragon 765. More details about these latest chipsets from Qualcomm are awaited, meanwhile, a social media war among brands seem inevitable. We are closely keeping an eye on the developments and will share updates regarding the same.
Samsung W20 5G Foldable Smartphone Listed On TENAA
Samsung’s Galaxy Fold was a hit or miss kinda smartphone, but it was a miss as it didn’t really meet the expectations of users at all. Problems with the protective cover and all slowed down the hype to almost a situation where we could just believe that the phone doesn’t even exist. But Samsung was already working on the next foldable smartphone and many reports were coming out regarding that. Now it looks like Samsung is bringing the next foldable phone- Samsung Galaxy W20 5G.
As the name itself implies to 5G, we are quite sure that the phone won’t be cheap at all, considering that it’s a foldable phone and it has got 5G. China Mobile, the world’s 4th largest carrier in terms of subscriber base has teased the phone. On a Weibo post, the company teased the Samsung Galaxy W20 5G.
The photo has texts that confirm the claim and we can see a foldable phone as well, partially open. It may be the successor to W2019, which was a flip phone which was launched at the same time a year back. However, the Samsung Galaxy W20 5G won’t have a physical keypad, instead, there will be a folding display similar to the Galaxy Fold. It is not still very clear whether the device folds horizontally or vertically, like the upcoming Moto Razr.
From the teaser, we can guess that the display is within the inner fold as the light is emerging from the inside. The Weibo post confirmed the launch of Galaxy W20 5G in November itself, which means that right now, Motorola and Samsung will go head to head in terms of foldable phones. Though, at this moment, the hype for the Moto Razr seems to be quite a bit high due to the nostalgic attraction towards its predecessor and due to the similar design. The Moto Razr interesting will have a display on the outer side and a tall display inside. As of now, it’s confirmed that the phone will be available in China via China Telecom, but Samsung hasn’t made any official statements regarding the W20 5G or its availability in other markets yet.
However, as usual, for such an innovative phone, leaks are already pointing towards the specs of Samsung Galaxy W20 5G. As someone spotted the phone on TENAA, we have got a few details and a few photos of the phone. As per the TENAA listing, the Galaxy W20 5G will sport a 4.6-inch display and will pack a big 4,135mAh battery. Also, we have got our hands on a few photos of the device.
From these images, it is quite evident that the phone will be similar to the Galaxy Fold in terms of how the display functions. We can see a quite noticeable camera bump and buttons at the edges. However, crucial details regarding the display are not available yet.
Xiaomi largest exclusive brand retail network in India’s offline market: Study
ChannelPlay, a retailer and channel solution provider released a report for smartphone sales. The report claims that Chinese smartphone vendor, Xiaomi is the leading single-brand retail network with the largest exclusive brand network in India.
According to the report, the company resides at the top of the heap at not just electronics, but ahead other sectors beating Café Coffee Day (CCD), Dominos India and Bata. Xiaomi’s retail network consists of all its single-brand retail outlets including all its single-brand retail outlets including Mi Home, Mi Studio and Mi Stores.
“A large proportion of consumers prefer a physical product experience before buying and another significant proportion is reluctant in making financial transactions online, especially for high-value products. This has largely established the need for brand experience stores “, Channelplay CEO said in a statement.
In the study, industries retailing a physical product were audited across a number of categories like apparel, pharmacy, furniture, furnishing and more. The list of companies that were evaluated includes some popular names likes HP, Lenovo, Kohler, McDonald’s, Subway, Puma, Ferns & Petals, Benetton, More Supermarket, Reliance Fresh and Baskin-Robbins.
With its aggressive pricing and selling premium features at an affordable rate, Xiaomi quickly grabbed a large portion of the smartphone market share since its entry. While the Chinese manufacturer does manufacturers high-end Mi phones, its massive success can be attributed to the high-quality mid-range devices that are part of its Redmi line-up. The sub-brand was spun off as an independent brand earlier this year.
The company today launched the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro for Europe that is identical to the Xiaomi CC9 Pro variants from China. It comes with a Penta-camera rear setup consisting of a 108MP primary Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor, a 20MP wide-angle camera, a 5MP telephoto camera with 5X optical zoom, a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x zoom meant for portraits and a 2MP macro camera capable of capturing subjects as close as 1.5 cm.
