samsung galaxy s20 series

Samsung has been teasing the Galaxy S20 flagship series for weeks and has been subjected to multiple leaks. The South Korean manufacturer finally showed off the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra at the recent Galaxy Unpacked event at San Francisco. All three smartphones are powered by the same chipset, Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 depending on the location.

The base Galaxy S20 is the successor of the last year’s Galaxy S10e. It features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution (3200 x 1400 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate. The slightly larger Galaxy S20+ on the other hand sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with the same resolution and refresh rate. The top-of-the-line Galaxy U20 Ultra packs a 6.92-inch display and again with the same resolution and refresh rate.

On the optics, the Galaxy S20 has a triple camera rear setup of a 12MP primary shooter, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 64MP 3X telephoto camera and a 10MP selfie shooter. The Galaxy S20+ packs the same camera configuration as the Galaxy S20 while the Galaxy S20 Ultra features a 108MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 48MP periscope telephoto camera with 10X optical zoom and a 40MP selfie shooter.

To handle the 108MP camera, Samsung has included up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM on the highest-end unit. This makes the Galaxy S20 Ultra the only smartphone with 16GB of RAM. It will be the first smartphone to feature 16GB of RAM, but not for long. Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi will be announcing its flagship Mi 10 line-up just a couple of days from now and the devices are expected to come with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The three device pack in different sizes of batteries with 4,000 mAh on Galaxy S20, 4,500 mAh on the Galaxy S20+ while the Galaxy S20 Ultra is rated at 5,000 mAh.

Redmi 8A Dual Launched in India, along with Redmi Powerbanks!

Published

on

Redmi 8A arrived a couple of months ago. But now, it has been upgraded a bit and launched in India as Redmi 8A Dual. The keyword ‘Dual’ here doesn’t indicate dual SIM connectivity like ‘DUOS’, a nomenclature used by Samsung a few years ago. Redmi rather has added that to indicate that the phone comes with a dual-camera setup on the back.

Apart from that, the Redmi 8A Dual has pretty modest specs. The phone comes with a 6.22-inch HD+ LCD display, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s entry-level Snapdragon 439 SoC, paired with 2GB or 3GB RAM. There is 32GB onboard storage, which can be expanded up to 512GB using the dedicated microSD slot.

As mentioned earlier, the Redmi 8A Dual comes with a dual-camera setup on the back. There is a 13-megapixel primary camera and along with that, there is a 2-megapixel depth sensor for portraits. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies. Though there is just a single camera on the front, there is still portrait mode using the software.

The Redmi 8A dual packs a huge 5,000 mAh battery, with support for 18W fast charging. However, in the box of the phone, only a 10W charger is supplied. Despite being a budget phone, the Redmi 8A Dual comes with a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. The Redmi 8A Dual also supports reverse charging so that users can use it to charge other phones. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers the typical options, along with support for VoWiFi for making calls using WiFi for those who are on Jio or Airtel.

In terms of pricing, the Redmi 8A dual is priced at Rs. 6,499 for the base model with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage, whereas the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 6,999.

Along with the Redmi 8A Dual, two new power banks have also been launched. The newly launched Redmi power banks come with two capacities- 10000mAh and 20000mAh. The 10000mAh power bank can offer a charging speed of up to 10W whereas the 20000mAh power bank has 18W fast charging capabilities.

Both of these power banks use Lithium Polymer cells, instead of Lithium-Ion which results in higher density. Both the power banks will go on sale starting February 18. The 10000mAh power bank is priced at just Rs. 799 while the 20000mAh model is priced at Rs. 1499.
