Since the past 8 quarters, the Chinese manufacturer Oppo had a tremendous growth but now it is time to slow down. Previously in the 4th quarter of 2017, Oppo’s annual growth was dropped down to zero, it still maintained the 4th position in terms of volume but Xiaomi occupied the 5th spot.
So recently in the Q1 of 2018, Xiaomi has outranked Oppo and according to a strategic report, we can clearly see that Xiaomi has surpassed Oppo in terms of market shares and now is leading as the fourth largest smartphone vendor in terms of the total shipment value.
This report clearly shows us that the global smartphone shipments have experienced an overall fall of 2%, as it has peaked 345 million units just in Q1 of 2018. Samsung has still managed to maintain its lead with an estimated 78.2 million shipment representing a total 22.7% market share, but then again this is slightly lower than the 80.2 million units which were shipped back then in the Q1 of the year 2017. Apple stands at second place with a total of 52.2 million units from the previous 50.8 million units and Huawei managed to grow from 34.5 million to 439.5 million units.
Now talking about the giant Xiaomi, it has shipped a total of 28.3 million smartphones in the Q1 of 2018, which is much higher than the previous 12.6 million units which were shipped in Q1 of 2017. The reason behind this massive growth of Xiaomi is because of their sales in Asia, India to be specific, as they’re now having 31% market share in India as of Q1 2018.

According to the latest leaks, we are expecting Xiaomi to launch Mi 7, Mi Band 3, Mi Max 3, and also the 8th Anniversary Mi 8, not just this but there is also one more special device which has been confirmed by the CEO, the all new Mi Max 3.
A fan has recently asked a question via Weibo to which the CEO Lei Jun has responded. He said, “Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is estimated to be released in July and is not ready yet. Nokia sends invites for May 29 launch event in Russia
HMD Global has send media invites for an upcoming Nokia launch event for “new phones” in Russia. The poster reads “Dear friends, we invite you to worldwide premiere for new Nokia phones”. It mentions the date as May 29 but it the venue has been blurred out. The poster didn’t reveal the name or even hint to the smartphones that will be launched.
The event will be attended by the top management of HMD Global like CEO, CMO and CPO which revels the launch will be a pretty big ones. Also another important point that most of the 2018 Nokia smartphones are already available in Russia, including Nokia 8110 4G, Nokia 3310 4G, Nokia 1, Nokia 6 2018 and Nokia 7 Plus except the Nokia 8 Sirocco and the Nokia 8110 4G. Which means this year’s Nokia 2, 3 and 4 might be launched. HMD Global’s CEO Pekka Rentala already confirmed the existence of Nokia 2, 3 and 5 successors.
Three unknown Nokia smartphones with model number TA-1075, TA-1105 and Ta-1116 were spotted in Russian certification. The certification didn’t reveal any specs so its too early to comment about its segment. Also there was reports that Nokia 3 2018 is getting launched soon. We expect it to run a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset this time instead of a MediaTek one. We will know soon on May 29 at 7 PM.
Xiaomi’s Future Product Lineup Leaked. Mi 7 Lite, Mi S1, Mi Mix 3s, Redmi Note 6, etc in the list!
Valuations are often overrated but not revenue. No company in China has ever achieved $1bn in annual revenue quicker than the smartphone maker Xiaomi, following the launch of it’s first smartphone back in 2011.
Xiaomi fondly dubbed as the “Chinese Apple” by Chinese media is eyeing a giant IPO with a valuation of over $8 billion, but that hasn’t stopped the Chinese OEM from working on new smartphones. Less than six months into 2018, Xiaomi has already come out with Redmi S2, Xiaomi 6x, Mi A6 to name a few.
Early morning today, a list of the upcoming Xiaomi products surfaced online. The list was spotted on Eurasian Economic Commison and reveals a bunch of unreleased phones under the Redmi and Mi series. To add to it, the list also includes the Mi MIX 2s and Redmi S2 which were released earlier this month.
What’s interesting here is that the Mi Mix 2s might actually have a successor likely to be named as Mi Mix 3s, which makes us wonder whether there’ll be a Mi Mix 3.
The Redmi series too will get some new members. In addition to the already mentioned devices, Xiaomi is expected to come with the Redmi A1 and Redmi A2 as successor to previous models. Other than that there’s Redmi Note 6, Redmi Note 6A, Redmi Note 6a Prime, Redmi Note 6 Prime, Redmi 6 Plus, and Redmi 6a Plus which will replace the current lineup of Redmi smartphones.
The listing is valid upto 31 December, 2023 which means some of the devices might not even launch this year.
