Redmi Note 5

We all know the Redmi Note 5 Pro was one of the most awaited models of Android history, and it was a grand success for Xiaomi till now, as they’ve crossed 30% market share milestone in India for Q1 2018. It was launched in India back in February 2018, and buyers will know how hard it is to get one in a flash sale. Moving aside to the topic, we have some good news and bad news. Let’s get to the bad news first.

The bad news is that Xiaomi has decided to hike the price of the Redmi Note 5. Specifically, the price of the 4GB version will be hiked. The 6GB version’s price will remain unchanged, which is good news for those who planned to buy the version.

Xiaomi has put forward some seemingly rational points because of which they had to take the decision. First, it seems that Xiaomi’s manufacturing plants in India can’t actually produce all the PCBAs they need. Therefore, they were importing a lot of pieces from their home in China. However, the change in tax structure has affected the import costs of these PCBAs. This made it essential to hike up the cost.

Secondly, the recent depreciation of the rupee has yielded lower exchange rates. This has been another reason for hiking up the price. Xiaomi might also be trying to bring in some extra profits for greater production which brings in even more profits. However, we’re not sure about the same.

The price of the Redmi Note 5 Pro 4GB version has been increased from Rs.13,999 to Rs.14,999, and the 6GB RAM variant has been increased from Rs.15,999 to Rs.16,999.

Xiaomi has said that the Indian plants would be able to produce the essentials by Chinese Year Q3 2018. Okay, the good news is that the demand might fall a bit because of the sudden price increase and some of you may be just able to buy the phone in the flash sale. But it’s Redmi after all, so don’t be so sure yet!

The event will be attended by the top management of HMD Global like CEO, CMO and CPO which revels the launch will be a pretty big ones. Which means this year’s Nokia 2, 3 and 4 might be launched. HMD Global’s CEO Pekka Rentala already confirmed the existence of Nokia 2, 3 and 5 successors.

Three unknown Nokia smartphones with model number TA-1075, TA-1105 and Ta-1116 were spotted in Russian certification. Valuations are often overrated but not revenue. No company in China has ever achieved $1bn in annual revenue quicker than the smartphone maker Xiaomi, following the launch of it’s first smartphone back in 2011.

Xiaomi fondly dubbed as the “Chinese Apple” by Chinese media is eyeing a giant IPO with a valuation of over $8 billion, but that hasn’t stopped the Chinese OEM from working on new smartphones. Less than six months into 2018, Xiaomi has already come out with Redmi S2, Xiaomi 6x, Mi A6 to name a few.

Early morning today, a list of the upcoming Xiaomi products surfaced online. The list was spotted on Eurasian Economic Commison and reveals a bunch of unreleased phones under the Redmi and Mi series. To add to it, the list also includes the Mi MIX 2s and Redmi S2  which were released earlier this month.

What’s interesting here is that the Mi Mix 2s might actually have a successor likely to be named as Mi Mix 3s, which makes us wonder whether there’ll be a Mi Mix 3.

Other than that there’s  Redmi Note 6, Redmi Note 6A, Redmi Note 6a Prime, Redmi Note 6 Prime, Redmi 6 Plus, and Redmi 6a Plus which will replace the current lineup of Redmi smartphones.

The listing is valid upto 31 December, 2023 which means some of the devices might not even launch this year.
