Xiaomi CC9e Spotted in Geekbench. Comes with Snapdragon 665?

Published

on

Xiaomi is all set to unveil its CC series on July 2. Ahead of the launch, the Xiaomi CC9e has appeared on benchmarking platform GeekBench with multiple performance results but none of them specifies the processor in the device. The smartphone was also spotted in Chinese regulatory agency TENAA with model number M1906F9SC.

The phone that was benchmarked in GeekBench as the “Xiaomi MI CC 9e” features 6GB RAM and runs Android 9 Pie. It is listed to be powered by a octa-core chipset clocked at 1.80 GHz. Till now, the handset was rumoured to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC but these results prove that it is not true.

The reason for this argument is that all devices which are powered by the SD 710 have a base frequency of 1.71GHz. The question is if not the SD 710, then which one. If we look at the five different results except for the last one, all have a single-core result of over 1400 points and a multi-score of over 5000 points.

The score indicate it is not the SD 660 as it has a base frequency of 1.84GHz. It isn’t the SD 636 or the SD 632 as neither of these has a multi-core score of more than 5,000 points. After elimination we have in our hand the SD 675, but it has a much higher single-core and multi-core score. Seeing the scores fall between those of SD 636 and SD 660, we strongly believe that the Xiaomi MI CC9e may be powered by the SD 665 chipset. It was announced by Qualcomm back in April but yet to appear in a smartphone.

The SD 665 focuses on AI that helps in improving photography. This falls in line as the Xiaomi CC9e is being marketed as camera-focused device. The company was the first to launch a smartphone powered by the SD 710, so it will not be surprising if it does the same with SD 665. Lao Wei revealed in a post in Weibo that the smartphone has a different chipset with 48MP rear camera and 32MP front camera.

The Xiaomi CC9e was also certified in TENAA. The listing reveals it will sport a 6.088 inch display. A 3940 mAh battery and measures 153.48 x 71.85 x 8.47 mm. From the images, the phone have a 3D curved glass back and a similar design to the bigger CC9. The triple rear camera can be seen stacked in a vertical arrangement on the top left corner. There is no fingerprint sensor which means it will come with an under display one. The front has a notch and a small lower bezel. The power button and the volume rocker are on the left side while the right side holds the SIM tray.

Looks like Spanish publication ProAndroid has already managed to get the device in hand as some real-life photos have been leaked.

Microsoft Surface Duo Foldable Dual Display Android Smartphone to Arrive Next Year!

Published

on

At the Microsoft 2019 event in NYC, the company unveiled its next generated of Surface Devices that will hit the market in 2020, including the dual-screen Surface Neo tablet. The Windows software also had one more surprise: the Microsoft Surface Duo, a smaller Android smartphone with two screens. The company was careful not to provide much detail about the Surface Duo, which will be accompanied by another large dual screen device called the Surface Neo.

Microsoft Product Chief Panos Panay said

This product brings together the absolute best of Microsoft, and we’re partnering with Google to bring the absolute best of Android in one product. This is industry pushing technology.

Microsoft tried its hands-on mobile operating system for two decades without success. With the high competition of Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS, the company gave up on the effort two years ago and moved to expand its Office software and other services to rival devices. Now, it is ready for its first Android smartphone launch.

This is the first time we are hearing about this product. The Surface Neo is a larger tabled sized device while the Duo is made for handheld used with two 5.6 inch displays split by a visible center hinge and unfolds into a bigger 8.3-inch split screen. In that sense, it will not be as seamless as the Huawei Mate X or the Samsung Galaxy Fold. But with a Gorilla Glass protection, it might give an edge over the Galaxy Fold’s plastic display problems.

Microsoft is partnering with Google for bringing “the best of Android into one product”, Panay said. This means the Surface Duo will be able to run every single app in the Android ecosystem. “With Surface Duo, we are building upon Android to marry cutting edge hardware with familiar software and services”, Microsoft explains in its blog post. We’re excited to work with developers and the industry to create the next wave of dual-screen computing and unlock a new era of mobile creativity”.

Interestingly, Microsoft wouldn’t label it as a phone and instead calls it a “communications device”. The Windows blog mentions the duo can take phone calls but didn’t mention whether it will support SIM cards and sold by carriers as smartphone-categorized devices. Going by the listed specs of the Surface Neo, the Duo may feature the same Custom Intel Lakefield processor that packs Intel Gen11 graphics.

The company didn’t give an exact launch date but it said it will be available on holiday 2020. Microsoft isn’t the first company to make a smartphone with two displays but it is sure hoping to make a triumphant return.

Mi 9 Pro & Mi Mix 4 5G Smartphone Launch Date Announced

Published

on

5G race has already started for telecom equipment makers, and slowly the race is also being witnessed in the smartphone market as smartphone makers are eager to launch smartphones that support 5G. Xiaomi has also joined the race and has announced the launch of Mi 9 Pro and Mi Mix 4. The company has announced a launch event in Beijing, China on September 24. At the event, Xiaomi will also unveil a new Smart TV.

Xiaomi announced the launch of these two phones via its official Twitter and Weibo account. Along with the mention of Mix, there is also a mention of MIUI 11. So, we can expect that we will get a glimpse of the MIUI 11 as well on September 24.

However, even before the launch, some details regarding these phones have been out there. 5G is something very obvious but apart from that, it is known that the Mi 9 Pro Mi Charge Turbo, 30W superfast wireless charging. In terms of hardware, the Mi 9 Pro is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset, coupled with massive 12GB of RAM, a configuration quite similar to what we get on ASUS ROG Phone II. In terms of camera, the Mi 9 Pro would feature a triple camera setup on the back where there is a 48-megapixel primary camera, alongside a 12-megapixel telephone lens and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens.

The Mi Mix 4 is even closer to what we have already seen, except the 5G connectivity option. It would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, coupled with 12GB of RAM and 1TB onboard storage. The phone is said to have a display with a high refresh rate of 90Hz and it would support 40W fast charging. The phone will have a popup camera setup and there will be a 100-megapixel camera- Yes, you read that right! That’s all known for now regarding the Mi Mix 4.

We may also take a look at some of the new features of MIUI 11 and how Xiaomi has redesigned its custom skin. The MIUI 11 may bring new icon styles, an always-on display mode, dark mode scheduler, redesigned file manager and a quick reply feature, but very little is known about it so far. However, it will be pretty interesting for many skeptic people like me who are most curious to know whether Xiaomi would get rid of stupid ads with MIUI 11 or not. At the event, a new Mi Smart TV may be unveiled, and some reports suggest that it would be an 8K premium smart TV. So, looks like September 24 would be quite a busy day for Mi Fans!
