Vivo V11 & Vivo V11i Launched in Thailand. Comes with Halo FullView display & In-Display FP

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo has announced the mid-range Vivo V11 smartphone today which is the successor to the Vivo V9 launched earlier this year. The highlights of the smartphone include a under-display fingerprint sensor, and a tiny notch which the company is marketing it as ‘Halo FullView’.

The smartphone looks a lot similar to the OPPO F9/F9 Pro launched earlier this month in the Indian market. Also, Vivo V11 is the same phone that is going to be launched as Vivo V11 Pro in India tomorrow.

As for the specs, Vivo V11 features a 6.41 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of FHD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory which can be further expanded with a microSD card.

In the optics department, the device comes with a dual camera setup in the rear with LED flash and phase detection autofocus. It includes a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 5mP secondary camera for detecting depth. On the front it comes with a 25MP front camera with f.2.0 aperture which can shoot videos at 1080p.

The handset runs FunTouch 4.5 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by a 3,400 mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, Dual Nano-SIM, FM radio, a micro USB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Coming to the next phone, it is basically the same phone, but with a different SoC. Vivo V11i is powered by Mediatek Helio P60 SoC and comes with a different camera setup on the back. Here it is a dual camera setup of 16+5MP on the back, while the front camera remains the same.

The company is yet to give any information regarding the pricing of the device but confirmed that will go on sale in multiple markets in Starry Night and Nebula color options.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) Announced! Comes with Triple Cameras.

Samsung has unveiled the 2018 edition of its Samsung Galaxy A7 today. The device offers a refreshed appearance with a bump in the specifications and the presence of triple rear cameras. The Samsung Galaxy A7(2018) is the first Samsung device to feature triple rear cameras. The company had announced its budget devices – the Samsung Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+ yesterday.

In terms of the design aspects, the Samsung Galaxy A7(2018) features 2.5D glass on the front and back sides. The handset sports a large 6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with Full HD+ (2220 x 1080 pixels) resolution. The processor used in the device is not explicitly specified by the brand but we expect it to be either Snapdragon 660, Snapdragon 710 or Exynos 7885 clocked at 2.2GHz.

There will be two variants for the device – one with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage and the other with 128 GB of internal storage packed into it with support for expandable storage up to 512 GB.

Coming to the key attraction of the device, the cameras. The device rocks a triple rear camera setup. The primary sensor is a 24 MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture while the other two sensors are an 8 MP 120-degree ultra-wide angle sensor with f/2.4 aperture and a 5 MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture respectively. The camera features Samsung’s intelligent Scene Optimizer which categorizes the subject and adjusts the color, contrast, and brightness to instantly optimize image quality. There is support for Live Focus, AR emoji too.

The front camera is a 24 MP sensor with adjustable LED flash with f/2.0 aperture. It incorporates features like Selfie Focus, and mimic professional studio lighting with Pro Lighting Mode. The device draws juice from a 3300 mAh battery with support for adaptive fast charging.

The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the right edge just like the Galaxy J6+. The device offers connectivity options like Cat.6 LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz & 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with a flavor of Samsung Experience. The Galaxy A7 (2018) will be available in Blue, Black, Gold, and Pink color options.

Samsung Galaxy J4+ & Galaxy J6+ Announced! Launching in India in September 25th.

Samsung announced the launch of two new smartphones for the mid-range segment. Dubbed as the Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+ the two smartphones have been subjected to a couple of leaks before.

As for the specifications, both the Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+ features a 6 inch infinity Display with a resolution of (1480 x 720 pixels) with an aspect ratio of 18:5:9. They run Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy J4+

The Galaxy J4+ is powered by an unknown quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz coupled with 2/3GB or RAM and 16/32GB of internal storage. In the optics, it sports a 13MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture along with a LED flash while offering a 5MP camera on the front with f/2.2 aperture.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, single band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS and GLONASS, NFC and a 3.5 mm headphone jack while sensors onboard include accelerometer, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. It measures 161.4 x 76.9 x7.9 mm and weighs 178 grams.

As for the Galaxy J6+, it is also powered by a quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz coupled with 3/4GB or RAM and 32GB /64GB of internal storage. In the camera department, the device sports a dual camera setup on the rear consisting of a 13MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture. On the front it offers a 8MP camera with f/1.9 aperture.

Connectivity options include VoLTE, single band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS and GLONASS, NFC and a 3.5 mm headphone jack while sensors onboard include accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, geomagnetic sensor, a proximity sensor and a side mounted fingerprint sensor. It measures 161.4 x 76.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs 178 grams.

The prices of the smartphones are not announced yet but it is rumoured to be price between Rs 10,000-Rs 20,000. The Galaxy J4+ will be available in the Black, Gold and Pink color options while the Galaxy J6+ will be available in Black, Grey and Red color options. Both the phones will be launched in India in September 25th, as Samsung have already put up dedicated teaser pages for the phones in their website.

Xiaomi Launches Mi 8 Pro & Mi 8 Lite in China

Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi 8 Fingerprint Edition and the Mi 8 Youth today in China as speculated earlier. There were various leaks and rumors regarding the launch of these devices and they are now finally official.

The major difference between the regular Mi 8 and the fingerprint edition is the presence of the in-display fingerprint scanner and a gradient finish at the rear.

To recall the specifications, the Mi 8 sports a bright 6.21-inch FHD+ OLED display and has an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The front camera used in the device is a 20 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

At the rear side, there is a vertically stacked dual camera setup. Xiaomi has gone with dual 12 MP sensors this time. The cameras feature 4 axis Optical Image Stabilization. The device makes use of AI for scene detection and video editing.

The processor used in the device is Snapdragon 845. It is coupled with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The device runs on MIUI 10 based on Android Oreo. The Xiaomi Mi 8 prices start at  CNY 3,199 (around Rs. 34,000) for the 6 GB RAM/ 128GB inbuilt storage variant and CNY 3,599 (roughly Rs. 38,200) for the 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage model. The device draws juice from a 3400 mah battery. The device will go on sale from September 21.

Coming to the new entry, the Mi 8 Youth. It features a 6.26 inch LCD display with a resolution of (2280 x 1080 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 19:9. It will be powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset and will be available in three configurations: 4 GB RAM + 32 GB internal storage, 6 GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage.

In the optics department, it will sport a dual camera setup of a 12MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor while offering a 24MP camera at the front. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and will be backed by a 3,250 mAh battery. It measures 156.4 x 75.8 x 7.5 mm and weighs 169 grams.

The device is priced at CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 14,800) for the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant while the 6 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,699 (around Rs. 18,000) and the 6 GB RAM/ 128 GB variant is priced at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 21,200). The phone will come with three gradient color variants to choose from and will go on sale from September 25.
