Samsung is known for its innovation in the mobile industry, thanks to its huge R&D and a huge stake in the premium smartphone market due to the same. Now, the fresh reports hint that the Korean giant might be working on a new tech which will allow the front camera and other sensors to be embedded under the display.
As we know, the Notch trend started by Apple last year spoiled almost every other new smartphone from the brands like Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, and now even OnePlus with the upcoming 6T. Ranging from a wider Notch on the Poco F1 to the little water-drop Notch on Oppo R17 Pro, followed by the Vivo NEX with the pop-up camera module and Oppo Find X with a mechanical slider, most of the mainstream smartphone companies are trying to increase the screen to body ratio and reduce bezels in every possible way they can.
On the other hand, Samsung stayed with its decision of not following Apple, the reason why the S9/S9+ and the Galaxy Note 9 came with slim bezels and skimped on the Notches. Now, the latest tweet by the popular tipster Ice Universe shows us the glimpse of the Samsung OLED Forum conference held in China, on 18th of Oct.
Great news! Samsung established the direction of mobile phone design in 2019!
On October 18th, Samsung Display invited about 20 customers to hold the "2018 Samsung OLED Forum" at the Shenzhen Marriott Hotel in China. At the meeting, Samsung showed a PPT pic.twitter.com/sYu0ORTd6V

In the conference, Samsung has been talking about the OLED technologies, to be more specific, about the new under-display features such as in-display fingerprint scanners, under-screen cameras, screen-sound technology, and touch-sensitive technology. Further, it is revealed that they are working on a new display technology that would allow for a practical placement of nearly everything ranging from the Selfie camera to the fingerprint sensor under the display (Samsung recently filed a patent for the Optical fingerprint sensor under the display). This will help the company for achieving a display with nearly 100% screen to body ratio without opting for Notch or any other weird implementations.
#Samsung is working on a new technology trying to hide the front camera underneath the display. My sources told me that there are just a hand full of prototypes using this technology. I don't think we'll see this feature in retail phones until 2020, but who knows 🤷🏽♂️

Another report by SamMobile says that Samsung’s new OLED display will also be capable of transmitting the audio so that the earpiece too can be fitted under the display, which is most likely going to use the advanced bone conduction technology for transmission of sound like we saw with the original Mi Mix. However, Samsung needs to work hard for making it perfect, yes, the Mix had issues with the same.
The report further adds that the company is even testing certain prototypes for these new technologies. Given that the Galaxy S10 launch is not too far, we can expect a nearly bezel-less display with a handful of the above-discussed innovations and something more like an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, a night-vision camera and an eye-motion sensor in the device? Well, who knows. Let us wait for the upcoming leaks and reports to reveal more about what Samsung is actually planning to do. Till then, stay tuned.
Samsung Galaxy A8s Leaked with Infinity O Display!
Samsung launched two smartphones last month in China – Galaxy A6s and Galaxy A9s and also teased the upcoming Galaxy A8s smartphonebin the same event. The teaser image from the launch event revealed an edge-to-edge design with a hole in the display for the front camera.
Now, alleged images of the Samsung Galaxy A8s display assemble and screen protector reveals an Infinity-O display. If these images are indeed real, the device will have a “punch hole” cut-out at the top of the display which is the first of its kind.
After avoiding the notch trend, Samsung showcased three types of notched displays at the Samsung Developers Conference (SDC) earlier this month. A recent leak claimed that Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A90 would be the first devices to sport the Infinity Design display but now it appears that the Galaxy A8s will be the company’s first smartphone to feature the Infinity-O display. Like the Galaxy A6s, there is a possibility that the Galaxy A8s maybe be available exclusively in China initially.
From the alleged images, the Galaxy A8s “punch hole” cut-out will be placed at the top middle portion of the display and not in sideways as suggested by some sources. As the handset will not have a traditional notch, it will be able to achieve a high screen-to-body ratio than current Samsung Galaxy devices. The similar design is also said to be adopted on the next year’s Galaxy S10.
The Samsung Galaxy A8s is expected to be positioned between the Galaxy A6s and the Galaxy A9s. It is said to feature a 6 inch display and powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset. There is also the possibility of the South Korean manufacturer going with a SD 670 or SD 675 if it is launched in early 2019. It is expected to be coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage while sporting a triple camera setup at the rear. Samsung is yet to give an official word on the launch date but we can expect it to be released by the end of this year or early next year.
Leaked Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 Renders reveal a Notched display
Asus made a huge hit in the Indian market with its Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 which stayed as one of the best smartphones under Rs. 15,000 for quite a while. Lately, we have had some reports about its upcoming successor i.e. the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 counting in the certification by EEC, leaked specs and the launch date for Indonesia as confirmed by the company. Now, the device has appeared online with its first ever renders, giving us an idea about the frontal design of the same.
The render of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 (ASUS_X01BD_1) sourced from Google Play Console listing reveals an edge-to-edge display, a Zenfone 5Z like Notch on top and a significant bottom chin. Looking at the icons, one can confirm that it will run Stock Android, just like its predecessor, instead of ZenUI which they used with the recently unveiled Zenfone Max M2 and Lite L1. The listing also confirms the device to sport 6GB of RAM, although we expect a 4GB model as well.
Coming to the alleged specifications tweeted earlier by Roland Quandt from WinFuture, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 will come with a 6-inch IPS display having a Full-HD+ resolution of 1080×2280 pixels. Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 4/6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of internal storage.
Further, it is tipped to come with triple rear cameras whose exact specs are yet to be known but we expect a primary RGB shooter clubbed with a depth sensor along with a wide angle shooter. It is also safe to assume a large battery (M1 had a 5000mAh cell) while the device will run stock Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with Pie coming soon.
We dont know much about this upcoming phone but provided that it’s coming on Dec 11 in Indonesia, let’s keep an eye on it. Till then, stay tuned.
Google Pixel 3 Lite Hands On Images & Specs Leaked!
Before the Google Launched Pixel 3 & Pixel 3 XL, rumours about two other devices in the Pixel 3 series were already floating around. Seemingly, the one called Pixel Ultra was supposed to replace the Pixel 3 XL, but we didn’t really see it making to the daylight. The other one was sort of a “budget” Pixel device, with mid-range specifications.
New leaks floating around which first appeared in a Russian tech blog called Rozetked, features an actual live piece of this new phone, dubbed as the Pixel 3 Lite. And guess what? It is having a headphone jack! At the first glance, the plastic build of the phone isn’t giving that Pixel vibe. The back mostly resembles the Pixel 3, and the front is having thicker bezels and doesn’t have a notch.
Take a look at the device here:
It’s having a neon yellow coloured power button just below the volume rockers in the right side. It’s having a 5.56-inch display, with a resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. The display is not an AMOLED one, so they might be opting for an IPS LCD display in this one as part of the cost cutting.
The device’s specs has also been revealed by the screenshots of AIDA64 system info app & another benchmark app, take a look:
Snapdragon 670, Qualcomm’s new SoC in the Snapdragon 6xx series, is said to be powering the device. This SoC hasn’t did a debut in the US market yet, which adds to the speculations that this device will be only for the Asian markets, seemingly India.
Other specifications include 4GB RAM, 32GB of storage, no expandable storage, a 12MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, and a 2,915mAh battery backing the power needs. There has been no leaks or speculations about the pricing.
This budget Pixel device (possibly one more) was already confirmed to be coming to India earlier, with a price tag of a midranger. It was also rumoured earlier that Google is working with the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi to manufacture a mid ranger, and this might be that phone.
