Samsung today launched the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10 Plus flagship smartphones. In addition the company also launched the affordable Galaxy S10E, yes, it’s basically an answer to iPhone XR from Samsung. Though it has a smaller display and lacks the more advanced features of its siblings, it might be the low-cost smartphone you are looking for.
The Galaxy S10E misses out an extra camera lens, curved display and the under display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor is embedded on the right side and comes while having a IP68 rated water-protection body. The device doesn’t feels cheap and instead feels premium with its glass and metal combo package.
On the specifications front, the Galaxy S10E features a 5.8 inch Dynamic AMOLED display with FHD+ (2280 x 1080) resolution, an aspect ratio of 19:9 and is certified for HDR10+. Since the display is flat, the bezels look a tad bigger. The display comes with a punch hole cut-out on the top right that holds the selfie camera. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. It is coupled with 6GB/8GBGB RAM and 256GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 512GB via microSD card.
On the optics department, it has a dual camera setup on the rear consisting of a 12MP wide angle lens and 16MP ultra-wide lens with 123 degree field of wide. It includes the same “Shot Suggestion” feature present on the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus. Samsung says it uses a “Neural processing” Unit to automatically adjusts certain settings in real-time. It can shoot in 4K and HDR+ and has a comes with a new ”super steady video” to stabilize shots. On the front it offers the same single 10MP f/1.9 front-facing camera as its siblings,
The handset runs on Samsung’s One UI on top of Android 9 Pie while being backed by a 3,100 mAh battery. It not only supports Samsung’s Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 tech but can use its own battery to wirelessly charge other Qi-compatible devices including iPhones. Samsung has also added new software automation routines in Bixby.
The handset will come in Flamingo Pink, Prism Black, Prism Blue, Prism White, Canary Yellow and Green colour options but the Green and Yellow variant will not be available for US customets.
