After a series of teasers and rumors, Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy M40 in India. The Galaxy M40 is a mid-range smartphone placed above the previously launched Galaxy M30. It will give good competition to the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Realme 3 Pro, which currently dominates the segment.
The Galaxy M40 features a 6.3-inch FHD+ Infinity-O display with a contrast ratio of 1200:1, 480 nits brightness, Widevine L1 support and Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. Samsung has also integrated its screen sound technology at its display that produces audio vibrations on the handset. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset paired with Adreno 612 and 6GB RAM. There is 128GB internal storage which can be further expandable to 128GB.
In the optics department, the Galaxy M40 has a triple camera setup at the rear comprising of a 32MP camera with f/1.7 aperture and AI screen optimizer along with a 5MP depth sensor and an 8MP ultra wide sensor with 123-degree FoV. The device comes with video features such as 4K recording support, Slo-mo, and Hyperlapse. For selfies and video calling, it offers a 16MP camera at the front.
The handset runs One UI on top of Android 9 Pie and is backed by a 3,500 mAh battery supported by 15W fast charging. The company claims to deliver three times faster charging speed compared to normal charging. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS and a USB Type-C port. For security, there is a fingerprint sensor at the rear. It has 7.9 mm thickness and 168 grams of weight.
The Samsung Galaxy M40 is priced at Rs 19,990 in India and will be available in Midnight Blue and Seawater Green color options. It will go on sale from June 18 starting 12 PM (noon) through Amazon India and Samsung Online Store.
Launch offers include double data benefits for Reliance Jio recharges with Rs 198 and Rs 299 prepaid plans. The 198 recharge options will give savings worth Rs 3,110 over 10 recharges. The Galaxy M40 customers on Vodafone and Idea will also receive cashback worth Rs 3,750 on recharge of Rs 255 which will be available through vouchers of Rs 75 on 50 recharges. Further, they will also get additional 0.5GB data per day for a period of 18 months. Airtel is giving 100 percent additional data for a period of 10 months for the Galaxy M40 customers.
