With the increase in hardware power, smartphone manufacturers have turned to software acceleration technology as well. Huawei launched their GPU Turbo tech, which brought gaming acceleration to their phones. Now another Chinese manufacturer OPPO has announced its own acceleration engine called as Hyper Boost which they been teasing earlier this week.

The new technology is capable of achieving full scenario system-level performance optimization and improves the overall power efficiency of the device. The Hyper Boost acceleration engine is being self-developed by the company and includes system engine, game engine and application engine. The system is able to optimize the performance in three aspects of system, gaming and application.

The new technology also has a behaviour-aware scheduling (BAS) solution which has been developed independently by the company. This results in tuning the underlying hardware frequency to 0.2 milliseconds from the default frequency of 20 milliseconds Linux task scheduler. Not any that, it also implements system-level optimisation of hardware platforms and sends a technical feedback to the vendors.

Honor launched their gaming focussed GPU Turbo Technology back in June this year which was first featured in the Kirin 970 powered Honor Play. While, the company is rolling the GPU Turbo technology to other Huawei and Honor devices, a second version of the GPU Turbo Technology is already in development. This upcoming GPU Turbo 2.0 will be available with the latest Android 9.0 Pie based EMUI 9.0.

Another Chinese manufacturer Oppo today revealed that they’re going to launch a similar technology called Hyper Boost. As of now, there is no other information about this technology expect for its name. The company will officially unveil this technology in October 11 in Shanghai, China.  Like the Honor’s GPU Turbo technology, Oppo’s Hyper Boost technology is expected to improve graphics processing during gaming.

The upcoming Hyper Boost technology will be embedded with the company’s own customised ColorOS but it’s not confirmed whether the previously launch ColorOS powered devices will also get the update. If yes, the previous OPPO sub-brand Realme smartphones should also get the Hyper Boost tech as they run on ColorOS too. Other details regarding this feature will be revealed at the event which is scheduled to take place just a few days after.
