South Korean smartphone giant Samsung who had been playing it safe is finally pushing its limits and is investing in innovative smartphone designs. The brand has teased an image of its upcoming device, the Samsung Galaxy A8s.
The specialty of the Samsung Galaxy A8s is that it will be the first smartphone to come with an in-display camera. Huawei also teased its own Nova 4 with in-display camera but it appears like the launch of this device will happen sooner.
The image was posted on Samsung’s official Weibo handle where it has also dropped the launch date. The launch of the Galaxy A8s is scheduled to happen on the 10th of this month. The device was first teased in China alongside the A9s and A6s launch.
The camera is placed on the top left corner of the device. The poster holds the tagline “Real Galaxy” along with a Chinese text which means “insight into the future”. This hints at the Infinity O display making its way to the flagship devices like the upcoming Galaxy S10.
In terms of specifications, the device is expected to have a 6.39-inch display manufactured by BOE. Under the hood, it is expected to feature the Snapdragon 710 processor. The rumor says that there will be 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. A 3,400 mah battery is expected on the handset. A triple rear camera setup (25MP + 5MP + 10MP) is expected on the device and the front in-display camera is rumored to have a 24 MP sensor.
A disappointing rumor is that the device might not have the 3.5 mm headphone jack which would be a huge turn down to Samsung users. This might not be true, we’ll have to wait till the launch event to know how it actually turns out. Till then, stay tuned for updates!
