Samsung teases Foldable Phone with it’s New DP! Expected to Launch on November 7 at SDC 2018

We have been hearing rumors and speculations about smartphone giant Samsung working on a foldable smartphone. It seems like the technology got mature and ready to be revealed for the public. Samsung has just changed its display pictures to a folded Samsung logo on its social media handles hinting the upcoming release of a smartphone with a foldable display.

They have scheduled a Developer Conference  (SDC 2018) in San Francisco on November 7th and November 8th where they might announce this new device. According to a report by The Bell, the handset will probably be codenamed “Winner”. The report states that there would be two Super AMOLED displays on the handset. The primary display will be a 7.3-inch screen and the secondary display will be a 4.6-inch one. The handset can be used while folded with the 4.6-inch screen and expands to tablet size when opened.

In between the displays, Samsung has placed a hinge to prevent the display from breaking on folding and unfolding. It also comes with an additional advantage where the user can fold the display in various angles based on the need. The production of the device’s components will begin this November.

The foldable smartphone is called Samsung Galaxy X by the community but there hasn’t been any official reference to the name of the device by the manufacturer. The so-called Samsung Galaxy X is expected to launch before the company’s own flagship Samsung Galaxy S10, so we expect it to happen somewhere in January.

Samsung has planned to manufacture about 100,000 display units per month, with a production estimate of 500,000 to 1 Million units per year. The foldable smartphone is expected to be a limited edition as this is the first time a smartphone brand is experimenting with foldable displays. We’ll get to know more about the device once the conference happens. Till then, stay tuned for updates!
