Samsung announces Galaxy J4 Core, its second Android Go phone

Samsung today announced its second Android Go smartphone after the Galaxy J2 core, which launched earlier this year in August. Dubbed as the Galaxy J4 core, it comes with better specs than the J2 core. The phone was also spotted in a Brazilian website Colombo.com with an error showing the phone to be out of stock.

The design of the phone is minimalistic with bezels on the top and bottom of the display. The power button is placed on the right side while the volume rocker is placed on the left. The Galaxy J4 core features a 6 inch display with a resolution of HD+ (1480 x 720 pixels) , 18:9 aspect ratio, 274 ppi pixel density and is powered by Snapdragon 425 SoC. It is coupled with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which can be further expanded upto 256GB via a microSD card.

The cameras are identical to the J2 core with an 8MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, autofocus and LED flash at the rear and a 5MP camera with LED flash at the front. The cameras come with features like panorama, Pro, dynamic focus, auto, super slow-mo, AR emojis and timelapse.

The dual-SIM device runs on the same Android 8.1 Oreo version of Android Go, but a Android 9 Pie upgrade is expected later. It is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery which will be more than enough to last than a day with moderate use. Connectivity options include 4G, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802,11 b/g/n, GPS, GPRS while sensors on-board include accelerometer geomagnetic, proximity and light sensor. It measures 160.6 x 76.1 x 7.9 mm and weighs 270 grams.

The device comes in a Blue, Black & Gold colors. Currently there is no word about the price or availability of the handset but the product listing is already up on the Samsung’s official site which we expect to be updated with the following details soon. We can now wait for it’s Indian launch, which we expect to be happening soon.

Realme X & Realme 3i Launched in India. Starts at Rs.16,999 & Rs.7999!

After all the teasing and leaks, Realme has finally launched the Realme X in India. This is the priciest Realme phone till date, and it’s like that for a reason, as they mention, this phone is a “Leap to Premium”. The phone was launched earlier this year in China, alongside Realme X lite, but that one is not launching here as it’s already available in India with a different name.

The Realme X is the first phone from Realme to come with a pop-up selfie camera. The pop-up camera means the phone comes with a 6.53 inch Full HD full-screen display.

The phone comes with a dual camera setup of a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. And on the front, there is a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor.

The phone is powered by the tried and tested Snapdragon 710 SoC, which is the same SoC used by them in Realme 3 Pro. Now, the phone comes with various RAM and internal storage variants including a 4/128GB and 8/128GB variant.

Talking about the battery, the phone comes with a 3765mAh battery, which supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

The phone is priced at Rs.16,999 for the 4/128GB variant and Rs.19,999 for the 8/128GB variant.

Realme 3i

Realme 3i is like a mash-up of Realme 3 & Realme C2. For starters, it’s back design reminds us of Realme C2, but with a gradient. It is powered by Mediatek Helio P60 SoC, which is the same SoC they used in Realme 1 & Realme 3 global variant.

Another major downgrade from Realme 3 is the use of a 6.22-inch HD+ display on the device instead of a Full HD+ one. The phone comes in two variants, 3GB RAM 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM 64GB internal storage.

Now, coming to the camera, it comes with a 13+5MP dual camera setup on the back and on the front is a 13MP shooter.

Like Realme 3 & C2, the phone is powered by a 4230mAh battery, but with no support for fast charging of any sorts.

The phone is priced at Rs.7,999 for the 3/32GB variant and Rs.9,999 for the 4/64GB variant.

Tecno Phantom 9 Launched in India. Comes with Triple Cameras, In Display FP & Dual Front Flash!

Tecno has launched a new smartphone for the Indian market. Dubbed as the Tecno Phantom 9, it is a mid-range smartphone with key highlights like under display fingerprint sensor and triple rear cameras. Techno has partnered with Flipkart for selling the device in the country and also renewed its partnership with Premier League’s Manchester City.

The Techno Phantom 9 features a 6.4 inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels), 19:5:9 aspect ratio and 600 nits brightness. The display has a waterdrop notch leading to a screen-to-body ratio of 84.54% and is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 chipset paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage that is further expandable up to 512GB via microSD card.

The device sports a triple camera setup at the rear with a 16MP primary camera with f/1.85 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle secondary sensor and a 2MP tertiary depth sensor. The cameras come with a proprietary Night algorithm 2.0 and quad LED flash module. There are additional features like AI HDR, AI Scene Detection, Animoji, Google Lens and Backlight portrait. On the front, there is an AI-powered 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and 79.4-degree view. It is aided by dual LED flash and has support for AI Face Unlock.

The dual SIM handset runs on HiOS 5.0 based on Android 9 Pie and is backed by a 3,500 mAh lithium-polymer battery. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, Micro USB and a 3.5m headphone jack while sensors on board include accelerometer ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer and proximity sensor. It measures 158.52 x 75.3 x 7.85 mm and weighs 164 grams.

The Tecno Phantom 9 pricing starts at Rs 14,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant and will be available on a single Lapland Aurora color option. It will go on sale in Flipkart from July 17.  Techno offers its “111” offer with the purchase of the smartphone like its previous devices in which consumers are entitled to a one-time screen replacement for six months, 100 days free replacement and one-month extended warranty.

Lenovo Z6 Launched in China. Comes with SD730, Sony IMX576 Primary Sensor & 4000mAh Battery!

Chinese manufacturer Lenovo has launched its Lenovo Z6 smartphone in China. The latest Z-series smartphone comes after the launch of the Lenovo Z6 Pro and the Z6 Youth Edition earlier this year.

The Lenovo Z6 features a 6.39 inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels) and 19:5:9 aspect ratio to give a high screen-to-body ratio of 93.1%. The display has a water-drop notch and has HDR10 support with DCI-P3 Color Gamut.  There is a sixth generation in-screen fingerprint sensor with built-in black and white photosensitive element and 3P achieving 0.13 seconds unlocking speed.

Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset built on the 8nm process and uses the same 4-series Kyro core as the SD 855. It is clocked at 2.2 GHz which is 35% higher than the previous generation. It is available in three configuration: 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage which is further expandable to 512GB via microSD card.

In the optics department, it sports an AI-powered triple rear camera setup consisting of a 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture for 2X loss-less zoom and a 5MP depth of field lens with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, it offers a 16MP front camera for selfies and video calling.

The handset runs on ZUI 11 based on Android 9 Pie and is backed by a 4,050 mAh battery with 15W QC3.0 fast charging. There is also support for Dolby Atmos.  It measures 157 x 74.5 x 7.97 mm and weighs 159 g. Connectivity options include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.

The Lenovo Z6 is priced at 1899 Yuan (Rs 19,000 approx) for the 6GB/64GB variant,  2099 Yuan (Rs 21,000 approx) for the 6GB/128GB variant and 2499 Yuan (Rs 25,000 approx) for the 8GB/128GB variant. It will be available in a single Blue color from July 9 in China.
