Redmi recently launched the Redmi Note 7 in China and is expected to launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro soon. Today the company’s CEO Lu Weibing confirmed that it will be launching an affordable flagship phone. He further mentioned that it will be powered by the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.
Lu posted a photo in his official Weibo account which shows him and some members of its crew at the parent’s company’s Shenzhen R&D institute where they discussed about the brand’s future and upcoming devices. He informs that the discussion was particularly centred on the SD 855 powered smartphone and the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
There is no much information about the flagship Redmi smartphone but we know some specs of the Redmi 7 Pro. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 octa-core chipset compared to the Note 7’s SD 660.
The handset is scheduled to launch on Chinese New Year which falls on February 5. Other specifications are expected to be similar to the Redmi Note 7 which includes a 6.3 inch FHD+ LTPS display, 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM. 32/64GB internal storage, 48MP + 5MP rear camera, 13MP front camera and backed by a 4,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 support.
The marketing of the smartphone is in full swing with Lu Weibing recently posting a poll on Weibo asking its fans the two most upgrades they want on the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The result was 35% asking for a faster chipset while 19% asking for a better camera. The third place goes to ‘more storage’ option. According to some recent rumours, it will come with 128GB on-board storage.
As for the pricing, the upcoming Redmi flagship smartphone is expected to be price around CNY 2,500 (Rs 26,500 approx) while the Redmi 7 Pro price will start around CNY 1,499 (Rs 15,750 approx) in China.
