The much anticipated Redmi Note 8 Series is finally here, as the company has unveiled the phones at an event in Beijing, China. At the event, at first, the Redmi Note 8 was unveiled. The Redmi Note 8 comes with a 6.3-inch display with thin bezels and a dot notch, offering 90% screen to body ratio. The phone has a gradient back and a fingerprint scanner is the 30% smaller than that on Redmi Note 7 Series.

The camera is one of the biggest highlights of the new lineup and the Redmi Note 8 gets a quad-camera setup on the back. There is a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth camera for Portrait mode. The rear camera comes with improved night mode while on the front, there is a 13MP camera with AI beautify, Portrait mode and AI scene detection. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 and with that, the company claims reduced power consumption. The phone packs a 4,000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. Thankfully, this time we see a USB Type-C port, even on the Redmi Note 8.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the main attraction in today’s event and looks like the phone would be able to match the expectations of the smartphone enthusiasts well. The Redmi Note 8 Pro sports a 3D curved glass display. The display measures at 6.53-inches with a 91.4% screen-to-body ratio and just like the Redmi Note 8, the fingerprint scanner is at the back, just below the camera module.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the world’s first phone, arguably, to feature a 64-megapixel camera on the back. The main 64-megapixel sensor has a large f/1.7 aperture. This camera can shoot images with resolutions as high as 9248×6936 pixels. Along with that 64-megapixel camera, there are three more sensors on the back. However, these are same as what we have seen on the Redmi Note 8- There is an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor for the portrait shots. The Redmi Note 8 Pro can shoot ultra slow-mo videos at 960 FPS. On the front, there is a 20MP camera for selfies and video calling. Redmi has partnered with TikTok in China so that TikTok Videos are incorporated in the camera options and users can create and share videos on Tiktok right from the camera app.

Apart from the camera, the Redmi Note 8 Pro focuses heavily on gaming. The phone is powered by Mediatek’s latest Helio G90T chipset, coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, along with liquid cooling. The Redmi Note 8 Pro will also support the game controller that was showcased at the event. The company also unveiled a World of Warcraft Edition Redmi Note 8 Pro. There will be three variants of the Redmi Note 8 Pro, in terms of RAM and storage capacity- 6 RAM+64GB ROM, 6GB RAM+128 ROM, and 8GB RAM+128GB ROM.

The phone packs a big 4,500 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. In China, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will come with NFC as well. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is priced at 1399 Yuan for 6 RAM and 64GB ROM variant. For the 6 RAM and 128GB ROM variant, the price will be 1599 Yuan and for the top variant with 8GB RAM, the price is 1799 Yuan. If we directly convert these figures to Indian Rupees, the pricings are Rs. 14,000, Rs. 16,000 and Rs. 18,000 (Approximately).
