Yesterday, a mysterious phone from Xiaomi was spotted on MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) database. There were speculations that a new phone from Xiaomi may be on its way, powered by the new MediaTek G90T. We had guessed that the phone could be either Poco F2 or the Redmi Note 8. But today, Redmi General Manager himself has confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 is coming soon.
A couple of Mi fans asked Lu Weibing, the GM for Redmi if the Redmi Note 8 is under development and though, most company executives don’t always directly reply to such queries, he did. He replied that the Redmi Note 8 is coming soon and what he mentioned, though a bit vague, means somewhat like it would crush the competitors. That means we may see a Redmi Note 8 will compete against others with way better specs and features.
It is still not sure whether the Redmi Note 8 would be powered by MediaTek’s new G90T chipset or anything else. There is no word regarding Poco lineup or Poco F2 from the Xiaomi officials yet. Xiaomi has already revealed its plans to introduce a phone with a 64-megapixel camera and surprisingly MediaTek G90T supports 64-megapixel camera as well.
The MediaTek G90T is a chipset build for gaming- At least that’s the general perception most people have right now from what the chipset maker said during the launch of the G90 Series chipsets. The MediaTek G90T is an octa-core processor with two ARM Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores, with a clock speed of 2.05GHz. The MediaTek G90T also makes sense for a gaming phone because the chipset can support up to 10GB LPDDR4 RAM, full-HD+ display with up to 21:9 aspect ratio and 90Hz display refresh rate. We wouldn’t be surprised if Xiaomi decided to turn the Redmi Note series into a budget gaming phone lineup, because others are already doing it, and selling their phones well.
iQOO to launch 3 New Smartphones in India, iQOO Pro, iQOO Neo & iQOO Lite!
Over the past few days, there have been various reports about the entry of Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO in India as en entirely independent brand and now we know it is indeed true. iQOO might launch its first smartphone in India as early as March. It will be powered by a 5G enabled Snapdragon 865, which is the first in the country.
Though the device is expected to debut in China as iQOO 3, the Chinese manufacturer said nothing about the Indian version. Now, Vivo has filed trademarks for three iQOO product names such as iQOO Pro, iQOO Neo and iQOO Lite with the Intellectual Property India. Vivo already launched the iQOO Neo and iQOO Pro in China last year. The former was powered by a Snapdragon 845 while the later housed the Snapdragon 855+ chipset.

iQOO is yet to launch a phone with iQOO Lite moniker in any market. Vivo trademarked the iQOO Lite name with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) last year in September. The tweet posted by @_the_tech_guy reveals the names of the newly trademarked iQOO phones and we expect more information about this smartphone from future reports.
A Chinese tipster claimed that iQOO is more of a performance-driven brand rather than gaming-focused. He further added that Monster Inside lightning and design won’t be available on the next generation of iQOO devices. This means that iQOO will come with some gaming features but it won’t be marketed as a full-fledged gaming phone like Black Shark and Red Magic.
As per rumors, the upcoming Vivo iQOO 3 will feature a 6.44 inch AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate display and a punch hole. It will have a 20:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform with 5G support and backed by a 4,410 mAh battery. It is also said to arrive with a 55W fast charger and 48MP quad-camera setup.
POCO to launch POCO X2 on February 4th! Seems like a Rebranded Redmi K30 from the teasers.
POCO has announced the launch date of its first smartphone after becoming a standalone company. The Poco X2 is set to launch on February 4 and the media invites have already been sent for the event that will take place in New Delhi. Flipkart has also revealed through a teaser that it will be bringing the smartphone into the country.

The upcoming Poco phone which is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 4G model will have an “extreme refresh rate” for “extreme gaming”, a 64MP camera with Sony IMX686 sensor and powered by a Qualcomm chipset with liquid cooling. A recent GeekBench listing suggested some specifications of the Poco X2 which hinted it will be launched with Android 10.
The Poco X2 was announced with a Tweet with the tacky hashtag “Be Smooth AF”. There is also a short link that sends you to a landing page that advertises the Poco X2 refresh rate. The Flipkart microsite, however, do not reveal any specification.
Poco India was earlier expected to launch the Poco F2 as its next generation flagship but the Chinese manufacturer has chosen the Poco X2 to begin its new journey following its departure from Xiaomi. The company hasn’t yet clarified whether it will bring the Redmi K30 4G variant as Poco X2 will slight modifications or a separate model altogether.
A new Poco X2 image shown in the Poco India site reveals it does have some design similarities with the Redmi K30. It has an identical looking bottom area with three vents for loudspeaker grille, pinhole microphone, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 730G chipset and run Android 10 out-of-the-box. Poco has already clarified that it will retain the MIUI Poco interface used on the Poco F1 back in 2018.
Apart from the Poco X2, the brand is rumoured to have a few other smartphones in the pipeline. We will have more details once the Poco X2 is introduced next week.
Huawei P40 Render Leaked! Reveals a Familiar Design.
By the end of 2019, we got to have a look at the renders of Huawei‘s P40, published by OnLeaks. But we didn’t get to see the phone in much detail. Today, we have got more renders that provide some visual details about the phone and also tells us a bit about the camera system of the upcoming Huawei P40, which is set to launch in March 2020.
As you can see in the image above, the Huawei P40 features a flat display. However, there is a pill-shaped cutout on the top left corner of the display which will be housing dual front-facing cameras for selfies. The front of the phone looks pretty minimal. But the back has got quite a few interesting elements.
There is a triple camera setup on the back of the Huawei P40. And we can see the Leica Optics branding there in the camera module. In this rectangular camera module, there are three cameras placed vertically. There is a two-tone finish on the camera module and to the right of the cameras, there is an LED flash and the Leica branding. The camera module on the Huawei P40 looks pretty similar to that of the recently launched Galaxy S10 Lite. So, it looks like rectangular camera modules are going to be very popular in 2020.
The back of the phone is pretty neat otherwise, as there is no fingerprint scanner visible. It can be assumed that the phone will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The right edge of the phone houses the power button, as well as volume rockers. However, the left edge of the phone hasn’t been revealed yet which might house the SIM card tray. At the bottom of the phone, there is a speaker grille along with a USB-C port for charging and data transfer, but there is no headphone jack!
In terms of the camera configuration, all we know is that the Huawei P40 will have a primary sensor, an ultra-wide sensor, and a ToF sensor. No details regarding the specs of those cameras are known at this moment. However, the Huawei P40 Pro is said to come with a quad-camera setup on the back and for that phone, some alleged camera specs are out on the web. At first, it was claimed that the Huawei P40 Pro will come with a 64-megapixel primary camera, but now, as per the latest reports, the phone will come with a 52-megapixel primary camera.
