Couple of days back, Xiaomi took to Twitter to announce that it has sold 2 million units of Redmi Note 7 series which has been a great success in India, following that they also teased a new smartphone in the tweet with a #48MPforeveryone, which lead to many speculating that Xiaomi might be launching the Global variant of the Redmi Note 7.
Today Manu Kumar Jain, MD of Xiaomi India, confirmed via a tweet that the new smartphone is indeed the global variant of the Redmi Note 7, which will be launching as Redmi Note 7S in India on May 20th.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 along with the Note 7 Pro in India in February which came with the different set of camera configuration (12MP + 5MP) than the Note 7 that was launched in China, however the company is now set to launch the same 48MP+5MP camera module with the the Redmi Note 7S, which makes it little more affordable than the Redmi Note 7 Pro, although it might be little more expensive than Note 7, since Xiaomi is teasing the #48MPforeveryone only so we expect the specification to remain the same as well.
The global variant of Redmi Note 7 comes with a 6.3-inch FullHD+ dot notch display, 19.9: 5 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass 5 for protection, under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz with Adreno 512 for graphics. The device comes in two RAM & Storage variant – 3/32GB variant and the 4/64GB variant, there’s also a MicroSD Card slot to expand storage upto 256GB. Runs on MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 Pie.
For the cameras – It has a 48MP primary sensor with a 5MP depth sensor for bokeh, on the front, it has a 13MP camera for the selfie. Other features of the camera include AI mode, HDR, AI scene recognition etc.
It has a standard 4000mAh battery with support for Quick charge 4.0.
