A report from last month had suggested that Xiaomi has scrapped the Redmi Note 5 to make way for their new model, the Redmi 5 Plus. However, a latest report that has emerged from China says that the company has not sacked the Redmi Note 5, and it is indeed real. According to the report, it will be released later this year.
Report claims that Xiaomi is in fact testing the Redmi Note 5 internally and will be released in the second quarter of this year. Why such a long waiting period? The answer is, Xiaomi is waiting for the release of Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor, claims the report.
It is known that the upcoming Snapdragon 632 processor will be offering better battery optimization for dual camera setups than the current Snapdragon 625 processor. It is also touted to be an overclocked version of current Snapdragon 630. It is also reported that Xiaomi is currently waiting for Xiaomi to release the SoC for it’s release. The report uses this as a reason to claim that the upcoming Xiaomi Note 5 will be flaunting a Dual camera setup in the rear, while maintaining a much better battery backup than the current competitors running 625 chipset.
According to the previous reports, the Redmi Note 5 will have a 5.99 inch Full HD bezel-less display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Two variants of the device, one with 4GB RAM + 32GB internal and the other with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal are speculated. A premium all-metal unibody design like the current Redmi Note 4 & Redmi 5 (&5 Plus) is expected, with the finger print sensor placed at the conventional position in the back.
As mentioned above, the camera department will be featuring a dual camera setup in the rear, with two 12MP lenses and an 8MP (or 5MP?) camera in the front, for taking selfies. Its expected that the Redmi Note 5 will offer a much better camera experience than its sibling, the Redmi Note 4 which falls a little behind in the camera department.
The upcoming Redmi Note 5 will support 4g VoLTE, LTE with dual slim slots, and will have A-GPS for seemless navigation. Its expected to run Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box, with MIUI 9. If rumors are correct, then it will be powered by a 4000mAh battery, and will be available at a starting price of Rs.15000.
