Redmi today launched its first flagship, the Redmi K20 at a formal launch event in Beijing, China. The Xiaomi sub-brand also introduced a higher variant called Redmi K20 Pro with better specs. The Redmi K20 has been the most hyped smartphone of this year and supposed to be an affordable alternative to the likes of OnePlus 7/OnePlus 7 Pro and ASUS Zenfone 6. The K20 is touted to be a “Flagship Killer 2.0” and aims to do what the Poco F1 did last year- deliver a flagship level performance while keeping the price at bay. In addition to the smartphones, Redmi also announced its first laptop RedmiBook 14.

The Redmi K20 series comes with a full-screen display with ultra-thin bezels and has a curved back. It features a 6.39 inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio, 600 nits brightness, HDR and DC Dimming support. The phone has a 91% screen-to-body ratio and a seventh generation in-fingerprint sensor.

The Redmi K20 Pro houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset with Adreno 640 GPU. It is paired with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. Both the smartphones come with a triple camera setup at the rear consisting of a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.75 aperture, an 8MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture and a 13MP wide angle sensor with f/2.5 and 124.8-degree field of view. There is a 20MP pop-up camera on the front with a sapphire lens that is water-resistant and scratch-resistant. Users can also customize the lifting mechanism with 6 kinds of sound effects to choose from.  Xiaomi claims the pop-up camera takes only 0.8 seconds to rise up and comes with a wide-angle mode. The handset runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. Other features include 3.5mm headphone jack, Hi-FI audio, and NFC support.

The Redmi K20 Pro has 8 layer graphite cooling technology to keep the temperature in check. It has a three-dimensional cooling structure which is double-sided. It also allows optimization of dark areas of the display while gaming for better viewing experience.
