Redmi today launched its first flagship, the Redmi K20 at a formal launch event in Beijing, China. The Xiaomi sub-brand also introduced a higher variant called Redmi K20 Pro with better specs. The Redmi K20 has been the most hyped smartphone of this year and supposed to be an affordable alternative to the likes of OnePlus 7/OnePlus 7 Pro and ASUS Zenfone 6. The K20 is touted to be a “Flagship Killer 2.0” and aims to do what the Poco F1 did last year- deliver a flagship level performance while keeping the price at bay. In addition to the smartphones, Redmi also announced its first laptop RedmiBook 14.

The Redmi K20 series comes with a full-screen display with ultra-thin bezels and has a curved back. It features a 6.39 inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio, 600 nits brightness, HDR and DC Dimming support. The phone has a 91% screen-to-body ratio and a seventh generation in-fingerprint sensor.

There is a 20MP pop-up camera on the front with a sapphire lens that is water-resistant and scratch-resistant. Users can also customize the lifting mechanism with 6 kinds of sound effects to choose from.  Xiaomi claims the pop-up camera takes only 0.8 seconds to rise up and comes with a wide-angle mode. The handset runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie. Other features include 3.5mm headphone jack, Hi-FI audio, and NFC support.
