Smartphone enthusiasts has been waiting for a while for an Android Go smartphone from Xiaomi (in their new Redmi sub-brand). Now, latest reports indicates that the wait is finally coming to an end. The smartphone has already got certified in several markets and reports indicates that it will be launching in the Philippines market first.
The phone was teased first by the official facebook page of Xiaomi Philippines, which shared a post teasing the launch of a new smartphone, a few hours ago. Take a look at the post first:
What makes the post really interesting is the hashtags used in the post, which goes as #GoSmartDoMore, indicating that the device will be running on Android Go.
The specifications of the device was leaked after it was found listed in an ecommerce website named Lazada. The listing consisted of a poster revealing the complete specification of the Redmi Go. The poster ran the tag line Go Smart Do More, the same hashtag used by the Xiaomi facebook page in the teaser post, indicating that he upcoming device is the Redmi Go.
The design of the Redmi Go resembles that of Redmi 4A. According to the poster, it comes with a 5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC mated with Adreno 308 GPU. It features 1GB of RAM and 8GB of Internal memory which can be further expanded to 128Gb via a dedicated microSD card slot.
Under the hood is a 3000mAh battery. In the camera department, the Redmi Go has an 8MP f/2.0 camera with HDR in the rear and a 5MP front camera for taking selfies. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition. It must be noted that the Redmi Go supports Dual 4G standby.
The Redmi Go comes with a 5V/1A charger in the box. As for now, there is no information about the price of the Redmi Go.
