Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has already created waves in the mid-range segment with the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro sold out in seconds of their first flash sale. Now the Chinese manufacturer is getting set to launch a new smartphone in the Indian market on March 19. The company today released an press invite to an event scheduled for March 19 in India.

The invitation contains the texts ‘Go” and the hashtag “AapkiNayiDuniya” hinting the launch of the Xiaomi’s first Redmi Go smartphone for the Indian market. The Indian price is yet to be revealed but the European variant carries a 80 Euros (Rs 6,000 approx) price tag.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Go smartphone a couple of months back in Philippines as Xiaomi’s first Android Go smartphone. The phone looks very similar to the top-selling Redmi 4A model that was one of its highest grossing smartphone till date. The rear side looks more like the Redmi 6A but the 6A is basically a redesigned Redmi 4A. The launch means that it will be the third Xiaomi handset after the Mi A1 and Mi A2, and the first Redmi model to run stock Android OS.
The Redmi Go features a 5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which can be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
In the optics department, the device boasts an 8MP single sensor at the rear with a LED flash while offering a 5MP camera at the front. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and comes pre-loaded with a couple of Lite apps like Google Assistant Go, YouTube Go, Gmail Go and more. The handset is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro USB port.
