Realme is gearing up to launch its first U series selfie-centric phone with Helio P70 SoC




Realme recently announced that they’ll be the first one to launch smartphone powered by MediaTek’s new Helio P70 SoC. Following the same, we now have some fresh reports which indicate that the company might soon launch a new smartphone with Helio P70 in its upcoming selfie-centric U series.

As of now, Realme has two lineups including Realme 1 and Realme C series which will be soon followed by U sequence. As per what the guys at 91Mobiles figured out from third party sources, the first Realme U smartphone will be powered by MediaTek Helio P70 SoC clocked at 2.1GHz and fabricated on 12nm FinFet process. This new SoC is touted to have NeuroPilot for AI processing and is claimed to be up to 35% more power efficient compared to the P60, present on the Realme 1.

There are also reports that in addition to packing in a great performance, the handset will also focus on selfie camera to compete with the smartphones like Redmi Y2, Redmi Note 5 Pro and the recently launched Honor 8X. Though the pricing isn’t yet mentioned, it will be safe to assume the base version to come under Rs. 15,000 bracket while higher variants may land in the 15-20K segment.

Talking of the brand itself, Realme has seen a phenomenal growth in recent times. After seperating from the BBK’s sibling Oppo to be an independent brand, it has further expanded its reach to countries like Indonesia and Malaysia. Moreover, according to the research conducted by Counterpoint, Realme has sold around a total of 1 million units in July-September quarter which is a huge achievement given that its a relatively new company and is in its growing phase. They are focussing on capturing the sub-20K price bracket by primarily targeting youths throughout the country. We can expect few new announcements from the company soon. Till then, stay tuned.
