Realme 5 Spotted in GeekBench. Comes with Snapdragon 665 & 4GB RAM.

Published

Realme is all set to launch the Realme 5 series smartphones on August 20. The Realme 5 series consists of the Realme 5 and the Realme 5 Pro and will go on sale via Flipkart. Ahead of the official launch, a Geekbench listing has revealed some of the key tech specs of one of the devices.

The device is marked as ‘realme RMX 1911’ and doesn’t reveal the exact identity. It is expected to arrive as the Realme 5. The device was also recently certified in Thailand and Malaysia, paving a way for its launch in these regions. In the Geekbench listing, it performed along the expected line for a phone in its class managing a score of 1525 and 5498 points in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively.

The listing further reveals that the handset will be powered by a chipset nicknamed ‘trinket’ which is the same processor for devices like Xiaomi Mi A3 and the Mi CC9e. They are powered by the Snapdragon 665 and if the listing is genuine, it would be safe to assume that the Realme 5 will house the same chipset. It will be paired with 4GB RAM and run Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.

It is part of a company’s plans to launch every Realme phone with a quad-camera setup. The Realme 5 is rumored to sport a 16MP camera and a teardrop notch to house the selfie camera through the exact details are yet to be made public.

The pricing and availability of the Realme 5 series will be revealed on August 20. We will be covering more details from the launch event. Till then, keep tuned.

Samsung Galaxy M51 revealed in CAD Renders!

Published

on

A couple of fresh renders of the supposed Samsung Galaxy M51 or Galaxy M41 surfaced online today. The images were shared on Twitter by Pigtou in association with Onleaks, who has a history of publishing accurate pre-leaks information about smartphones. The phones are yet to be officially announced by the Korean smartphone maker and there are certain inconsistencies worth pointing out.

From the renders, the upcoming smartphone appears to have a 3.5mm headphone jack placed on the top edge. This would be a nice addition and many fans would welcome it except its supposed predecessor, the Galaxy M40, lacks this feature. This doesn’t mean that Samsung can’t trackback its decision to remove the port, but it would certainly be an unusual one.

Another anomaly is the presence of two volume rockers on the device, one on each side. It doesn’t make a lot of sense right now but Samsung could be working on a new unannounced feature. Other features include a triple main camera setup stacked vertically at the top left corner, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, an Infinity–O display with a corner cut-out and a USB Type-C port at the button joined by a speaker and microphone.

The source mentioned the Galaxy M51 to have a 6.5-inch display while measuring 162.6 x 77.5 x 8.5 mm (9.5 mm with the rear camera bump). There are no other specifications included with the renders. The visual details certainly look like a decent package but the chance of the source being genuine is very slim. It is not impossible and Samsung might have it in the pipeline. But we advise the readers to remain skeptical until any official teaser or leaks come out.

Samsung has already performed well in this segment while battling competition like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and Oppo. The Samsung Galaxy M51 will be a great addition to the market with some innovative tech the company cooked up in its labs.

Published

Over the past few days, there have been various reports about the entry of Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO in India as en entirely independent brand and now we know it is indeed true. iQOO might launch its first smartphone in India as early as March. It will be powered by a 5G enabled Snapdragon 865, which is the first in the country.

Though the device is expected to debut in China as iQOO 3, the Chinese manufacturer said nothing about the Indian version. Now, Vivo has filed trademarks for three iQOO product names such as iQOO Pro, iQOO Neo and iQOO Lite with the Intellectual Property India. Vivo already launched the iQOO Neo and iQOO Pro in China last year. The former was powered by a Snapdragon 845 while the later housed the Snapdragon 855+ chipset.

iQOO is yet to launch a phone with iQOO Lite moniker in any market. Vivo trademarked the iQOO Lite name with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) last year in September. The tweet posted by @_the_tech_guy reveals the names of the newly trademarked iQOO phones and we expect more information about this smartphone from future reports.

A Chinese tipster claimed that iQOO is more of a performance-driven brand rather than gaming-focused. He further added that Monster Inside lightning and design won’t be available on the next generation of iQOO devices. This means that iQOO will come with some gaming features but it won’t be marketed as a full-fledged gaming phone like Black Shark and Red Magic.

As per rumors, the upcoming Vivo iQOO 3 will feature a 6.44 inch AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate display and a punch hole. It will have a 20:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform with 5G support and backed by a 4,410 mAh battery. It is also said to arrive with a 55W fast charger and 48MP quad-camera setup.

POCO to launch POCO X2 on February 4th! Seems like a Rebranded Redmi K30 from the teasers.

Published

POCO has announced the launch date of its first smartphone after becoming a standalone company. The Poco X2 is set to launch on February 4 and the media invites have already been sent for the event that will take place in New Delhi. Flipkart has also revealed through a teaser that it will be bringing the smartphone into the country.

The upcoming Poco phone which is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 4G model will have an “extreme refresh rate” for “extreme gaming”, a 64MP camera with Sony IMX686 sensor and powered by a Qualcomm chipset with liquid cooling. A recent GeekBench listing suggested some specifications of the Poco X2 which hinted it will be launched with Android 10.

The Poco X2 was announced with a Tweet with the tacky hashtag “Be Smooth AF”. There is also a short link that sends you to a landing page that advertises the Poco X2 refresh rate. The Flipkart microsite, however, do not reveal any specification.

Poco India was earlier expected to launch the Poco F2 as its next generation flagship but the Chinese manufacturer has chosen the Poco X2 to begin its new journey following its departure from Xiaomi. The company hasn’t yet clarified whether it will bring the Redmi K30 4G variant as Poco X2 will slight modifications or a separate model altogether.

A new Poco X2 image shown in the Poco India site reveals it does have some design similarities with the Redmi K30. It has an identical looking bottom area with three vents for loudspeaker grille, pinhole microphone, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It will likely be powered by the Snapdragon 730G chipset and run Android 10 out-of-the-box. Poco has already clarified that it will retain the MIUI Poco interface used on the Poco F1 back in 2018.

Apart from the Poco X2, the brand is rumoured to have a few other smartphones in the pipeline. We will have more details once the Poco X2 is introduced next week.
