realme, one of the emerging smartphone brands in India has once again introduced phones at an event in New Delhi at very competitive prices. Today, the company launched the much-anticipated realme 5 and realme 5 Pro. The highlight of both the phones is the quad-camera setup on the back. Also, the pricing is very aggressive. realme 5 base variant has been priced at Rs. 9,999 and the base variant of realme 5 Pro has been priced at Rs. 13,999, the same launch price as their earlier phone, realme 3 Pro.
The realme 5 Pro is kinda like the more premium variant of the realme 5. The phone sports a 6.3-inch full-HD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ protection. It is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 712 chipset, coupled with 4GB, 6GB, or 8GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB onboard storage. However, there is provision for memory expansion up to 256 GB using a microSD card.
The camera is the main highlighting feature of the realme 5 Pro as there are four of them on the back. In that quad-camera setup, there is a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. Along with that, there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.25 aperture and 119-degree field of view. A 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture is also there and a 2-megapixel portrait lens with f/2.4 aperture has been added for depth sensing. There is Electronic Image Stabilisation on the realme 5 Pro. On the front, realme 5 Pro has a 16-megapixel camera with 4-in-1 pixel tech and an f/2.0 aperture.
The realme 5 Pro runs Android 9 Pie out of the box with Color OS 6 skin on top and the phone comes with a 4035mAh battery with support for VOOC 3.0 which brings 20W fast charging. This time, realme has gone with USB-C and apart from that, there are connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and the mighty 3.5mm headphone jack. Also, with realme 5 Pro, the company will bundle the fast charger in the box itself. The base variant of realme 5 Pro with 4GB RAM is priced at Rs. 13,999, while the 6GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 14,999. There is also a top variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, which has been priced at Rs. 16,999.
realme 5 was also launched today. The phone is like just a bit toned-down version of the realme 5 Pro, but with one prime benefit. The realme 5 features a 6.5-inch HD+ instead of the fullHD+ display on the realme 5 Pro. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 665 processor, and it’s the first phone in India to have launched with this chipset. On the realme 5, we get three variants- 3GBRAM and 32GB storage, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.
In terms of camera, the company has put a quad-camera setup on the realme 5 as well, but with a minor change. Instead of using the 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, realme as put a 12-megapixel primary shooter with an f/1.8 aperture. However, the other three lenses are the same as those, found on the realme 3 Pro.
On the front, there is a 13-megapixel camera. The realme 5 gets a bigger battery compared to realme 5 Pro. The phone packs a huge 5000mAh battery. This is the first time realme has opted for such a big battery for any of its devices. In terms of pricing, the 3GB variant is priced at Rs. 9,999, while the 4GB RAM variant with 64GB storage is priced at 10,999 and the top variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs. 11,999.
In terms of availability, the realme 5 Pro will go on sale on September 4 at 12 pm via Flipkart and the realme website and soon, it will be available via offline stores as well. The realme 5 will go on sale on August 27 at 12 pm via Flipkart and realme website and just like the realme 5 Pro, it will arrive at the offline stores soon. There are various launch offers for realme 5 Pro like Jio benefits worth up to Rs. 7,000, no-cost EMIs, Flipkart’s Complete Mobile Protection at a discounted price, Paytm First membership, and up to Rs. 2,000 cashback if purchased with Paytm UPI.
