The mid-range smartphone market in India has already seen the Redmi Note 7 series and Samsung M-series launch this year. Today Realme launched its Realme 3 smartphone which is the successor to the last year’s Realme 2. Few days earlier, the company took a jab at Xiaomi claiming that the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset to be better than the Redmi Note 7’s SD 660.
The Realme 3 comes with a new unibody design with gradient colors. It features a 6.2 inch display with a resolution of HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) and a dew drop notch. It has a 19:9 aspect ratio, a screen-to-body ratio of 88.3 percent and protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, it is powered by a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. It is available in two configurations: 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage with expandable storage via microSD card.
In the optics department, it sports an AI-powered dual camera setup at the rear with a 13MP + 2MP configuration with features likes Chroma Boost to enhance dynamic range and something called Nightscape for low-light environment. On the front there is a 13MP selfie camera with AI Beautification, HDR and Face Unlock support. The handset runs on ColorOS 6 based Android 9 Pie which the company claims not to run Ads. It is backed by a 4,230 mAh battery but a USB Type-C port is not available. There is a fingerprint sensor at the rear.
As for the pricing, the base variant with 3/32GB configuration is priced at Rs 8,999 while the 4/64GB variant comes at a price tag of Rs 10,999. The company further notes the 3/32GB variant price is part of an introductory offer for the first million buyers after which the prices will likely to be hiked. It will be offered in Dynamic Black, Radiant Blue and Black color options and will be exclusively available on Flipkart and Realme website. The first flash sale starts on March 12 at 12 PM(noon).
Furthermore, the company also announced the Realme 3 Iconin Cased that includes yellow, black and blue diamond-cut pattern that will be available at Rs 599. Realme also teased the Realme 3 Pro, which will be launched in India in April.
