OPPO R17 with In Display Fingerprint is Official Now!

We have witnessed the OPPO R17 earlier passing TENAA and 3C certifications followed by leaked live images. Now, the mid-end flagship device has been listed on Oppo’s official Chinese website, revealing most of its specifications and features.

The OPPO R17 looks very similar to the recently teased OPPO F9 Pro, which is scheduled to launch in India on August 21. The phone comes with a glass back panel with gradient finish and has a “teardrop” notch design similar to that of the F9 Pro.

Furthermore, the listing reveals that the OPPO R17 sports a 6.4-inch FullView AMOLED display with a resolution of Full HD+ (2280×1080 pixels) resulting in a 91.5% screen-to-body ratio. For protection, the display is covered by the layer of Gorilla Glass 6, which makes it the first phone to comes with Gorilla Glass 6 display. Interestingly, it is the first Oppo phone to debut with a 2mm x 2mm in-screen fingerprint scanner, which was skipped in the Oppo Find X.

The OPPO R17 packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC at its core (first in the market to do so), coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

In the optics department, the phone sports a vertically stacked dual camera setup consisting of 16MP shooter along with a 20MP secondary shooter at the rear. For Selfies, we have a 25MP Sony IMX576 sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 at the front. Moreover, the camera app packs nifty AI features including the AI-portrait mode.

The device is backed by a 3,500mAh battery with Oppo’s VOOC fast charging technology which is claimed to deliver two hours of battery life within five minutes of charge.

On the software front, the device runs on ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Moving on, the connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C.

Additionally, a Weibo post confirmed that the company will also be launching the R17 Pro soon. The Oppo R17 is reported to go for pre-orders on August 18, however, there are no announcements by Oppo regarding the Indian launch. Stay tuned for more information.

Samsung A20 Launched in Russia. Comes with 6.4 inch AMOLED Infinity-V display & 4000 mAh battery

Samsung has launched a new smartphone in the A-series in Russia. Dubbed as the Galaxy A20, it is launched alongside the Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30 smartphones. The device sports a 3D Glass build and a waterdrop notch.

The Galaxy A20 features a 6.4 inch Super AMOLED Infinity-V display with a resolution of HD+ (1560 x 720 pixels). Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7884 paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which can be further expanded to 512GB via a microSD card slot.

In the optics department, it sports a dual camera setup at the rear comprising a 13MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture and 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. It offers a 8MP camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. The handset runs Samsung’s One UI on top of Android 9 Pie and is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery. It has a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and support for Samsung Pay.

As for the pricing the Samsung A20 is priced at RUB (Rs 15,000 approx) for the single 3/32GB variant. As for now, the company is yet to announce the device’s availability in India.

The company is also expected to launch the Galaxy A60 on April 19. From recent rumours, it will have a 6.7 inch Infinity-U FHD+ display with an in-screen fingerprint sensor and powered by a SD 6150 chipset which is yet to be announced. It will be paired with 6/8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

It will have a triple camera setup of 32MP + 8MP + 5MP configuration and offer a 32MP sensor on the front. It will likely run Samsung’s One UI on top of Android 9 Pie and will be backed by a 4,000 mAh battery.

Vivo X27 and Vivo X27 Pro Launched in China!

Pop-up camera fad is on the rise with manufacturers Vivo and OPPO launching several new handsets with this design theme over the course of the last few months. Vivo launched the V15 Pro in India, OPPO launched the F11 Pro while the OnePlus 7 leaks also hints a similar design. Vivo today launched two handsets today at its home market. Dubbed as the Vivo X27 and Vivo X27 Pro, they feature the pop-up front camera design.

The Vivo X27 comes in two variants with the base variant powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 while the higher version gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset. Both the variants feature a 6.39 inch FHD+ display and backed by the 4,000 mAh battery. The base variant has an 8GB RAM + 128GB on-board storage configuration while the higher one has 8GB RAM + 256GB on-board storage configuration. The higher variant also gets 22.5W Vivo Flash Charge technology. The dual SIM handset runs on Funtouch OS 9 based on Android 9 Pie.

There is a pop-up 16MP sensor at the front on the base variant while the higher variant gets a 32MP sensor. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS and USB.

As for the Vivo X27 Pro, it is the most expensive and feature-packed among the three sporting a 6.7 inch Super AMOLED 20:5:9 display and powered by a Qualcomm 710 chipset. It has 8GB RAM and 256GB on-board storage. It comes with a triple camera rear setup with a 48MP primary camera which has the Sony IMX568 sensor. The front offers a 32MP pop-up camera. There is an in-fingerprint sensor and 4,000 mAh battery. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, WI-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, NFC and USB.

The Vivo X27 pricing has been set at CNY 3,198 (Rs 33,000 approx) for the 8/128GB variant and CNY 3,598 (Rs 37,000 approx) for the 8/256GB variant. They will be available in China from March 23. The Vivo X27 Pro comes at a price tag of CNY 3,998 (Rs 41,000 approx) for the single 8/256GB variant. Vivo is yet to confirm if the handsets will be launched outside the Chinese market.

Redmi Go Launched in India. Comes with SD425 & 1GB RAM for Rs.4,499!

Xiaomi today launched its first Android Go smartphone a.k.a the Redmi Go in India. The phone runs on Android Go, a stripped down version of standard Android. With the launch, Xiaomi is targeting the first time phone users in the country. The device was launched in Philippines earlier this year.

The Redmi Go has a plastic body with big bezels on the front. As for the specs, it features a 5 inch display with a resolution of HD (1280 x 720 pixels) and 16:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage which can be further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

In the optics department, the handset sports a 8MP single rear  sensor with a LED flash while offering a 5MP camera at the front. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and comes pre-loaded with a couple of Lite apps like Google Assistant Go, YouTube Go, Gmail Go and more.It is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery.

The device comes with support for 1080p FHD video recording, unlimited Google photo backup, HD video calling, among others. It has 20+ language support and comes with Google Assistant Hindi and English. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, 3.5 mm headphone jack and a micro USB port.

The Redmi Go is priced at Rs 4,499 and will compete against the likes of JioPhone, JioPhone 2, Nokia 1, Samsung Galaxy J2 Core, Micromax Bharat Go and Nokia 1 Plus which HMD Global launched at the MWC 2019 event. It will be available for sale for the first time on March 22 from Flipkart, Mi Home and Mi.com at 12 noon in blue and black colour options.
