Oppo Unveils 10X Lossless Zoom Smartphone Camera Tech at MWC 2019!

Oppo has delivered on the promise they made about their MWC event! They have finally unveiled their 10X Lossless zoom camera tech for their smartphones.

Although the unveil hasn’t come with a smartphone launch, they stated that they will be brining it to consumer market in Q2 2019 in their upcoming flagship launch.

The 10x Lossless zoom tech works using a triple camera setup.

The first camera is an ultra wide one, which they mention as extra refined lenses which can take awesome ultra wide images. It has a focal length of 16mm.

The second one is a normal camera, is a 48MP Sony IMX586 (the same one we saw in Honor View 20 & Mi 9), which acts as a primary camera.

The third one is where the magic happens, it has two D cut lenses, assembled like a periscope (as they mention it). It also has a bigger sensor and is assisted with OIS (the main sensor also has OIS). The focal length of this one is rated at 150mm.

The third lens does add to the thickness of the overall setup, with the thickness rated at 6.76mm.

Oppo mentioned that the 10x lossless zoom tech is mass-production ready, and they will unveil their next flagship equipped with this tech in Q2 2019!

They also had a presentation about 5G, in collaboration with Qualcomm, although no handsets were mentioned in the event.

Vivo to bring their Sub-brand iQOO to India by June!

Vivo launched its sub-brand iQOO earlier this month in China. Now according to a report by 91mobiles, the Vivo sub-brand is coming to India as early as in May.

This piece of information comes from an anonymous Vivo executive who claims that iQOO will be entering the Indian market in late May or Early June. The brand will debut with the iQOO smartphone and will launch another handset later this year in India.

Both the upcoming smartphones from iQOO will launch as gaming smartphones in India and will compete against the likes of OnePlus handsets. The company plans to price these smartphones between Rs 30,000 and 60,000. The Vivo executive further reveals that a total of four variants of the two iQOO phones will be launched in India.

As for the Vivo iQOO smartphone that was launched in China, it features a 6.41 inch AMOLED display with a dew-drop notch resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of 91.7 percent. It houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and includes a ‘super liquid cooling’ to reduce heat while running heavy graphics-intensive games for long duration. It offers 6GB/8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage.

There is a triple camera setup at the rear consisting of a 12MP primary sensor with proprietary dual pixel technology, a 2MP depth sensor and a 13MP wide-angle lens (Sony IMX263) while offering a 12MP selfie camera. It comes with a Multi-Turbo service that includes AI Turbo, Center Turbo, Net Turbo, Cooling Turbo and Game Turbo to boost the performance. The high-end model is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery with support for 44W fast-charging and can fully charge in 45 minutes and 50% in just 15 minutes. The lower variant with a 6GB/128GB configuration lacks the 44W fast-charging and instead comes with a 22.5 W charging support. All the variants run on FunTouch OS based on Android 9 Pie.

As of now, Vivo has not announced or teased the launch of its iQOO sub-brand in India. We expect the teasers to arrive sometime in next month.

Xiaomi’s Black Shark Sets up HQ in India, New Launch Expected!

Xiaomi‘s very own sub-brand dedicated for gaming, Blackshark is all set to expand its business to India. Blackshark is known for its gaming-centric smartphones which offer flagship specifications along with efficient cooling mechanisms in order to avoid thermal throttling and hence maintain the performance of the device.

Smartphone gaming is booming in India where games like PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9 is being actively played by the millennials in the country. Xiaomi’s move of bringing Black Shark to India is indeed a clever move and we expect it to be received well in the market.

The brand’s VP David Li has announced that he will be managing the overall operations of the sub-brand in India. Now that the brand has officially established its presence in India, it’s ensured that the next Blackshark device would make its way to India.

A new Black Shark device code-named Black Shark Skywalker was spotted on Geekbench a few months back. The device comes with ‘msmnile” chipset which is the codename of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Along with the 7nm Soc, it will be coupled with 8GB RAM. The device managed to score 3,494 and 11,149 on single core and multi-core tests respectively.

This leaked device might actually be the upcoming gaming Black Shark device. The previous generation Black Shark device, Black Shark Helo comes with 6-inch AMOLED display with 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. It packs Snapdragon 845 processor, 6/8/10 GB RAM variants, 128/256 GB internal storage, dual 16 MP + 20 MP rear cameras, 20 MP front camera, and 4000mAh battery.

A bump in the overall specifications is expected from the Black Shark Helo. The chipset supports 5G connectivity but the decision to include the 5G supported X50 modem depends on the brand. Xiaomi will be sending out invites for the launch event for this new Black Shark device in the upcoming days. Till then, stay tuned for updates.

Vivo introduces their Sub-brand iQOO!

Following the footsteps of Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, ZTE and OPPO, Vivo today unveiled the new sub-brand iQOO in its home-market. The company is yet to release more details of the sub-brand, but like other smartphone brands it could be targeting one specific consumer or price segment. Though sub-brands are common industry, it is seen only on a few smartphone brands. Most customers don’t even realise the two particular brands have the same parent company.

Vivo announced its sub-brand iQOO via a new profile on Chinese networking site Weibo and will join the likes of Honor by Huawei, Poco and Redmi by Xiaomi, Realme by OPPO, Nubia by ZTE and Zuk by Lenovo. The teaser didn’t have much information apart from giving a futuristic feel.

It is speculated that Vivo created iQOO to focus only on the 5G and other flagship handsets that are priced around CNY 5,000 (Rs 53,000 approx). Or it could be a gaming brand considering the rising popularity and increasing fan base. It will be clear after Vivo provides us with more details.

The new sub-brand’s website iqoo.com is up, but it only have some information about the company and nothing about its latest development. The company recently unveiled a new brand identity of its main brand with a new slightly tweaked logo and revamped ‘Vivo Blue’ color. Senior Vice President of Vivo Spark Ni says
