OnePlus 6 to Come With a Notch, Carl Pei Confirms.

OnePlus 6

OnePlus has definitely been one of the brands that budget users looking for great smartphones have found, and loved. Not only are it’s devices are affordable, they’re high on performance too. It is notable that the company is owned by BBK Electronics, which also owns major smartphone giants Oppo and Vivo.

Now that the all-new Snapdragon 845 is out, I bet OnePlus can’t wait to test and try it out. They’ll be definitely including it in the Oneplus 6, and Oneplus 6 News is what we’ve got for you.

The new OnePlus 6 is confirmed to have an iPhone-X like notch, if not smaller. Notches have been all the rage among smartphone brands these days. Asus’s dubbing of iPhone X as Fruitphone X was especially iconic.

OnePlus has exclusively given a first look at the OnePlus 6, for The Verge. Even though the notch accomodates only a single camera setup, an earpiece, an ambient light sensor and an LED Notification light, Carl Pei has something to say. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has given an explanation for the latest flagship having a notch.

Unlike others’ perspective that the notch takes away some of the screen, Carl Pei had another insight. He has said that the notch has given more space for the notifications on the screen. The co-founder believes that OnePlus’ idea of the notch seems much more viable as compared to other brands. Furthermore, he thinks that the notch is implemented with proper thought and care.

The OnePlus notch is a bit bigger than the Essential phone’s one. But we have to take into consideration the LED Notification light and usability. The OnePlus notch will be disguised while playing multimedia like videos.

The new phone will also have a ‘chin’ like as on the other Android devices with a notch. Carl Pei has said that the chin is needed to drive the display. Moreover, it is notable that Apple had flexed the display around to avoid the chin.

OnePlus has successfully tested the implementation on over 1,000 common apps. It does seem that OnePlus’s approach is a lot more practical, having an edge over Apple’s perspective of looks over practice, at least that’s what the folks over at OnePlus believes.

If you didn’t see the earlier leak where the back of the device was showcased, take a look at it here!

Also, Carl Pei has tweeted something about the article by the Verge, take a look for yourself:

On the software side of things, the device is expected to run Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box with Oppo’s own fork on top.
