Nokia, a company which was once worth over $300bn was sold for a mere $350m to HMD by Microsoft in 2016. Fast forward couple of years, they’re busy launching one phone after the other. The Nokia X6 will be unveiled two days from now and has been listed on Suning.com for ¥1499 (~$237). Previously there had been rumors that the device would be christened Nokia X, but it’s been put to rest by Suning.com.
The Nokia X6 will be the first phone from Nokia to feature a notch above the display, just as we saw in the earlier leaks. The device will come with a 5.8 inch FHD+ display with (2280 x 1080p) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Coming to the memory segment, the device will have 4GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of onboard storage. What’s interesting here is that, an earlier TENNA listing revealed two variants of the Nokia X6, 3GB and 4GB of RAM, but there has been no sing of the former anywhere.
Coming to the imaging side of things, the Nokia X6 is expected to sport a 16MP snapper in the front with a setup similar to the Nokia 7 Plus on the back. The device will be powered by a 3000 mAh battery and is expected to be an Android One device, thus joining an elite group of companies to release an Android One smartphone.
The phone will be unveiled on 16th of May. The device is expected to come in just one color as the listing doesn’t mention anything other than black.
From what we have seen, the Nokia X6 clearly looks like a placeholder between the Nokia 6 and Nokia 7 Plus, thus catering to a wider audience with different tastes. The only question that remains unanswered is whether they can regain their throne or not.
