nokia x5 launched

Nokia X5 is the second smartphone from HMD Global to have a top notch and was launched in China on July 18. The company has already started teasing the global variant of the device which means it will be no longer be exclusive to China. The global variant of the Nokia X6 is named as Nokia 6.1 Plus which fuels the rumour that the global variant of the X5 will be called Nokia 5.1 Plus. A promotional image of the device was also leaked earlier this month.

Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global announced the Nokia X5 launch in China via his official Twitter account. A user questioned him whether the smartphone will made it to overseas markets like India and Sri Lanka. He responded to the tweet by saying that the smartphone will not need a poll for the company to decide if they should launch overseas.

Take a look at the reply tweet:

Though cryptic, he may be pointing to the poll created by him for the  launch of Nokia X6 Global variant. The X series devices are exceptionally doing well in China and this may be the reason the company will soon launch overseas. Though Sarvikas hinted the global launch, he didn’t specify which market it will be launched first.

The Nokia X5/5.1 Plus features a 5.86 inch 2.5D protected  display with a resolution of HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels),an aspect ratio of 19:9 and an screen-to-body ratio of 84%. Under the hood it is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor clocked at 2GHz. It will be coupled with 3GB/ 4GB RAM with 32GB and 64GB internal storage.

There are dual cameras at the rear of 13MP + 5MP configuration with a single 8MP sensor at the front. The Nokia 5.1 Plus will run stock Android 8.1 Oreo unlike the Chinese variant and will be backed by a 3,000 mAh battery. It is expected to be priced around Rs 10,000 in India.
