Nokia was one of the top smartphone manufacturs but soon their sales dipped after Microsoft acquired them. However with its new owner HMD Global, the brand seems to be back on track. Now, the company is rumoured to be working on a new smartphone called Nokia Phoenix.

In a latest turn of events, a popular tipster Hikari found references to the Nokia Phoenix in FIH server data. FIH (Foxconn International Holdings) is the current manufacturing partner of HMD Global and it has previously provided information about upcoming smartphones before also. The device’s appears as PNX and Phoenix code-names in their database.

The Nokia Phoenix smartphone’s details have been shrouded in mystery since it was first mentioned by another tipster Roland Quandt. Though it has made headlines a couple of times, this is the first time a concrete evidence for the device’s existence is found. Hikari posted her findings in her Twitter handle @Hikari_Calyx believing it was an unknown device. But he later correlated with the previous information and confirmed that it was indeed the Nokia Phoenix.

The findings fails to reveal any other information about the smartphone but its highly speculated that it will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset which is upgrade to the Snapdragon 660 platform, one of the most widely used chipsets in mid-range smartphones this year. The new chipset brings improved battery performance and artificial intelligence (AI) features. The smartphone is said to bridge the gap between the Qualcomm powered mid-range and flagship devices which hints that the Phoenix will be an upper mid-range or flagship device.

Apart from this, other rumoured specs include an 18:9 display (means no notch), 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage. Some reports claim the Phoenix is none other than the Nokia X7 which will be named Nokia 7.1 Plus globally. It will likely debut towards the end of this year.
