Micromax’s online sub-brand Yu launched the YU ACE back in August this year after a long gap. Shubhodip Pal, Chief marketing and Commercial Officer of Micromax Informatics said in an interview with Gizbot that the company will be launching four products under the Microsoft and four products under the YU brand.
Though he mentioned that the products will be launched in the month of October, November and January, there was no launch in these past few months. The local manufacturer is also planning to launch two smartphones powered by MediaTek Helio P20 chipset that will be priced between Rs 7,000- Rs 10,000.
Today, Micromax India posted an image in their official Facebook page teasing a new smartphone. The caption reads, “We are excited, the countdown has begun” with a hashtag “AboveTheRest”. The image didn’t reveal the smartphone completely and we can only see the silhouette of the device.
However, the phone seems to sport a traditional notch which will make it the first Micromax device with a notch. The image contains a text “Does the powerful excite you?” hinting that it may come with a powerful chipset. Apart from that there is not much information about the smartphone but it is likely to be launched by the end of this year or early January.
Micromax launched Yu as an online-only brand in 2014 with the first smartphone Yu Yureka hitting the market the same year in December. Though the successor Yu Yureka 2 was launched after a long gap of three years, it was successful. After that the brand went silent for a small gap launching the YU ACE three months ago. Micromax has experienced decrease in sales after Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi and Vivo started dominated the Indian market particularly in the mid-range segment.
However, the company is hoping to change things as the company has got a huge order from Chhattisgarh government and their upcoming line-up will have to achieve the target. Shubhodip Pal feels that it may take some time but the whole game will change in a quarter. It seems that Micromax is really planning something big for the long run.
