Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is in the final round of preparations to launch its flagship device – the Mi Mix 3. In the past, we have seen a handful of leaks and rumors regarding the design aspects and specifications of the device.
Last month, Xiaomi’s President Lin Bin teased the device on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website. It revealed the full-screen slider design used by the brand. In addition to it, the Mi Mix 3 will also come with support for 5G connectivity support, which is a huge overhaul in terms of connectivity. A couple of weeks ago, a hands-on video of the device has also surfaced online.
Today, we have an expected launch date based on a leaked poster. The company has not officially announced the launch event but this poster seems legit. It also mentions the Nanjing Youth Olympics which hints that the event will be held in one of the venues used back in 2014.
The slider design employed in the device is manual, unlike the automatic ones which were seen on the Oppo Find X. The use of the manual slider is much more practical in real-world usage. The key specifications of the device are not revealed or leaked yet, but we expect it to happen soon as the device is nearing its launch.
There are also speculations that the device might feature LCD panel rather than curved AMOLED. Moreover, given that Qualcomm will be releasing its next Snapdragon 855 chipset in December as part of its annual Tech Summit, the Mi MIX 3 is more likely to come with the existing Snapdragon 845 SoC.
To achieve the 5G capabilities, Xiaomi should technically use the Snapdragon X50 5G modem similar to the Moto 5G mod. We’ll have to wait till the launch event to know what Xiaomi has packed into the handset. Till then, stay tuned for further updates!
All Samsung Galaxy S10 variants to Support Reverse Wireless Charging!
Earlier this week, a report surfaced online disclosing the price of the Samsung Galaxy S10 trio in the UK. The source also revealed the possibility of Samsung implementing a reverse wireless charger like the one on Huawei Mate 20 Pro and now an independent source confirms it to be true.
The new leak claims that the reverse wireless charging will feature on all the three variants of Galaxy S10, including the Lite version. The technology will be called “Powershare” but we are not so sure about its usability. The standard wireless charging is pretty slow and charging another smartphone with your smartphone will be even less effective. However, its still early to comment on it and the South Korean may have a better solution than Huawei’s Mate Pro reverse charging or it could be just another marketing gimmick.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 will be available in three variants: a regular version, a Plus version and a flat variant. It is expected to come with a Infinity-O display with a cut-out notch containing the selfie camera. The device is also touted to come with a new in-screen fingerprint scanner that uses ultrasound to read the ridges in the finger in 3D but the iris scanner is likely to be shelved.
The Lite variant of the smartphone featuring a 5.8 inch display will have 128GB storage and priced at £669. The regular curved variant of the S10 with 6.1 inch display will be offered in 128GB and 512GB RAM and will cost £799 and £999 respectively. The third model is offered in a 128GB, 512GB and 1TB storage variant costing £899, £1099 and £1399 respectively. The 1TB storage variant may be the rumoured 5G supported 6.7 inch model with six cameras considering the high price tag. From previous reports, the device will be available in 4GB, 6GB, 8GB and 12GB RAM and sport triple camera setup at the rear.
Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy S10 series ahead of the Mobile World Congress on February 20. It will be available for pre-order from that day and will go on sale from March 8.
New Xiaomi Smartphones clears 3C certification, might be the Redmi 7 Series!
Three new Xiaomi smartphones has been certified by 3C authority in China. The variants are numbered as M1901F7T, M1901F7E and M1901F7C. The phone are equipped with 5V/2A charging, and it’s speculated that it is the Redmi 7 series for next year, the successor for Redmi 6 series.
The 3C doesn’t offer much information other than the charging rate. The M1901F7E, M1901F7T and M1901F7C comes with support for 10W charging hinting that it will be affordable smartphone from the company.
Last month two Xiaomi smartphone with model number M1901F9T and M1901F9E smartphones passed 3C certification. The two smartphones were revealed to have support for the 10W charging. The Chinese manufacturer is yet to launch the Redmi 6 Pro in China. Hence, it is speculated that the M1901F9T and M1901F9E might be the Redmi 6 Pro. However, like its predecessor, Redmi Note 5, it is expected to launch under the Redmi Note 6 moniker. Like the global variant, the Redmi Note 6 pro will include a 10W charge but may carry support for 18W fast charging.
The recently appeared Xiaomi M1901F7T, M1901F7E and M1901F7C models are expected to launch after the Note 6. So there is a strong possibility that it is one of the phones from the Redmi 7 series, which includes further divisions like Redmi 7 and Redmi 7 Pro. Currently, there is not any information available about the handset.
All the handsets Xiaomi released this year had a “M18” in the start of their model numbers while the above mentioned devices have “M19” in their names indicating that they will be launched next year. So we can expect the company to launch the Redmi Note 6 and the Redmi 7 series in the first quarter of 2019. Though the phones have not yet cleared any other certification they are expected to appear soon into benchmarking websites and other certifications revealing more details about the handsets.
