Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has launched its flagship device – the Mi Mix 3 today. The Mi Mix series is known for its design aspects and this time, the company has done a fair job in avoiding the need to place a notch on the top of the device by coming up with efficient design alternatives.
The device sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED 1080p display. The device has an impressive 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. The manual slider hides the front cameras when not in use and can be pulled down whenever not in use. Under the hood, the device features the Snapdragon 845, which is the normal version. The phone would also be getting a 5G variant on Q1 2019, possibly powered by Snapdragon 855 as rumoured. This makes the Mi Mix 3 to be the first smartphone to come with this new processor and 5G capabilities.
The handset will be available to buy in three variants – 6 GB RAM with 128 GB internal storage, 8 GB RAM with 256 GB internal storage and 10 GB RAM with 256 GB internal storage. Xiaomi had unveiled another 10 GB RAM phone a few days back. The 5G model will be available in Europe by Q1 of 2019.
In terms of camera, there will be a dual 12 MP rear cameras of which the primary Sony IMX363 sensor with 1.4µm pixel size and f/1.8 aperture. The secondary sensor is a telephoto lens (again IMX363) with f/2.4 aperture and 1.0µm pixel size. The front will feature a 24 MP Sony IMX576 sensor coupled with a 2 MP sensor. The rear camera can shoot slow-motion videos at 960 fps. While we were expecting an in-display fingerprint sensor, Xiaomi has equipped a physical fingerprint sensor on the rear side.
The Mi Mix 3 will be available in Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, and Onyx Black color variants. The handset draws juice from a 4000mAh battery, which supports wireless charging. The company is also bundling a 10W wireless charger in the box with the phone.
The phone is priced at a price of 3299 Yuan($475) for the 6 GB RAM variant with 128 GB internal storage and the 8 GB RAM variant with 256 GB of internal storage is available at 3999 Yuan($575).
The higher 10 GB RAM variant which the company calls Forbidden City Palace Museum special edition, goes on sale at 4999 Yuan($720). The preorders have begun for the regular variants today and will start sales from November 1. The Forbidden City edition will be available by the end of November.
