Published

Xiaomi has recently launched its Mi 6X in China which is said to be named as Mi A2 when it comes globally, given the fact that the Mi 5X that Xiaomi launched last year in China came as Mi A1 in global markets as the first Android One smartphone by the brand. The only difference was that the Mi 5X came with MIUI while Mi A1 offers pure stock Android experience.

The speculations for the upcoming Mi A2 started after Mi 5X launch in April and it was evident from previous leaks and rumours that the Mi A2 is indeed real and will be the Android One version of the Mi 6X.

Now, Xiaomi has recently teased its next global launch on its facebook and twitter handles. The teaser ain’t about the launch of a particular product, instead, it’s more of a poll for Mi fans.

The teaser hints about the next major global launch and asks Mi fans to guess the country where the event is yet to be held. We can expect more teasers on the same nearing the launch event.

Earlier, the Mi A2 appeared on Digitec- a Swiss retailer site, listed at a price of CHF 290 (Rs 20,000 approx) for the base variant. The listing also revealed that the shipments of the device will begin from August 8 which adds to the probability of Mi A2 being a part of the next global event. The device was also spotted in a leaked hands-on video which was taken down later.

It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with Adreno 512 GPU and will be available in 4/32GB, 4/64GB & 6/128GB RAM and storage configurations.

The device houses a dual camera setup at the back, featuring a 20MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and a secondary 12MP secondary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, while a 20MP snapper is given at the front for Selfies. The Camera on Mi 6X is aided by certain AI features including smart scene detection and portrait mode and is expected to be equipped with the Mi A2 as well. All this is backed by a 3,010 mAh battery.

The device will be launched at a higher price compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro due to the presence of much more powerful chipset and better Cameras. The pricing as per Digitec’s listing was CHF 290 (roughly Rs 20,000), CHF 330 (roughly Rs 22,500) and CHF 370 (roughly Rs 25,500) for the 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants, respectively. Let’s see what actually comes at the launch event. Till then, Stay tuned.

There’s also a slight chance that this might be Mi 8i, rebranded variant of Mi 8 SE, as a recent report suggested Xiaomi is brining the younger sibling of the Mi 8 series to India soon.

Vivo is preparing to unveil their latest offering in it’s Y series, the ivo y81i in India soon. The reports suggesting the Indian launch of Y81i comes shortly after Vivo has announced the Vivo Y95 earlier this month in Vietnam. According to a report, the Vivo Y81i could hit the Indian market in a few weeks. The Vivo Y81i was first announced in Malaysia, and there was a different but similar phone, Vivo Y81 which was launched earlier in Vietnam.

Coming to the design, the Vivo Y81i comes with a notched display. The overall design looks similar to the Vivo Y81. While it comes with a notched FullView display, there is no dual camera offering on the Vivo Y81i, indicating that Vivo will be placing it as an entry level smartphone.

In the display department, the Vivo Y81i features a 6.22-inch FullView HD+ display with a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. By using the FullView display, Vivo has managed to achieve 87.9 percent screen to body ratio in the Y81i. As usual with Vivo, the smartphone comes with a Mediatek SoC. It is powered by the Mediatek MT6761 processor, which is infact a toned down version of the MT6762 Helio P22 SoC. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is less by today’s standards.

It runs on FunTouch OS 4.0, based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The Vivo Y81i will be available in Red Black and Blue color options. While there is no official reports about the pricing of the Vivo Y81i, reports suggest that it will be priced anywhere below the 10K INR mark.
