Xiaomi itself confirmed in a tweet that it will be launching the Redmi K20 as the “Mi 9T” in some markets. Now, a photo of the smartphone’s retail box has been leaked online by a tech reviewer from Dubai.
The K20 comes with various names like “Redmi K20”, “Mi 9T”, “Pocophone F2” depending on where it is released. In China, it is being sold as the K20 while in other EMEA regions and Dubai, it will be released as the Mi 9T. Similarly the higher variant, the Redmi K20 Pro will be released as the “Mi 9T Pro” and “Pocophone F2 Pro” in some regions outside of China.
There is no guarantee that both the vanilla and Pro models will be available in all the regions. The core difference between the variants is the chipset and fast charging tech. The Redmi K20 pro is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset with 27W fast charging while the regular K20 has a Snapdragon 730 and 18W fast charging.
The Mi 9T also seems to have a different design from the K20 series. While the K20 series is available in Red, Blue, and a carbon fiber special edition, the Mi 9T retail box shows a “Carbon Black” cover. It suggests that the Xiaomi Mi 9T and perhaps the Poco F2 will be offered in a different selection of colors.
The retail box also informs it has 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The K20 also has a higher variant of 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage which may differ by regions. The K20 series has a triple camera setup consisting of a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.75 aperture, an 8MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture and a 13MP wide angle sensor with f/2.5 and 124.8 degree field of view. On the front, it offers a 20MP pop-up camera with a sapphire lens that is water-resistant and scratch-resistant.
There is no official launch date regarding the launch of the Mi 9T or the Poco F2 but considering the leaks, it is expected to be around the corner.
