Xiaomi Senior VP posted on his official twitter handle and Weibo account a few fresh images of the Mi 9 giving us an early sneak peek ahead of the official reveal. He further revealed that the device uses nano-level laser engraving and dual-layer nano-coating to create a unique, “holographic” paint job. The official render show the smartphone in a primarily blue shade but it looks like it changes as light hits it from different angles. The rumour that the device’s design will be a key selling point seems likely.
Now from another leak by the XDA folks, we are getting a clearer look at the handset. It reveals a black paint job which looks like it reflects light in lines in the rear. There is a triple camera rear setup placed in a vertical arrangement with a LED flash. There is some sort of LED ring on the first sensor but it’s unclear what it will be used for.
The leaked photos gives us a good look at the front side. The Mi 9 will sport a U-shaped notch and somewhat similar to the Essential Phone. It is quite an upgrade over what was used on the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Pro. There is no visible fingerprint sensor which means it will come with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. It is rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 855,
Mi 9 is scheduled to launch on February 20 in China where other details regarding the specs and price of the handset will be revealed.
