The Mi 8 Pro have some major upgrades from its predecessor, the Mi 8, with the main feature upgrade being the on- screen fingerprint scanner. When Mi 8 was launched, the company decided to go with the popular rear mounted fingerprint scanner, while most other flagships had started using the on- screen fingerprint scanner technology which raised a few eye brows.
Apart from the on-screen finger print scanner, the Mi 8 Pro comes packed with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC clocked at 2.8GHz. It will be available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants along with 128 GB non- expandable storage. The Mi 8 Pro sports a 6.26-inch AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18.7:9.
In the camera department the Mi 8 Pro sports an AI assisted 12MP+12MP dual rear cameras. The primary camera has an aperture of f/1.8 while second camera has an aperture of f/2.4. The front cam has a 20MP lens capable of applying 3D beauty effects and AI portrait mode.
As said at the beginning, the Mi 8 Pro comes with an on- screen fingerprint scanner and also support IR based face unlock that we have seen earlier in the Poco F1. It has a wider notch to accommodate the IR face unlock sensor. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI on top. The device is powered by a 3000mAh battery.
Apart from the Ochre Black and Twilight Gold variants, the Mi 8 Pro will be available in a translucent glass back similar to the Mi 8 Explorer edition. The global roll out of the Mi 8 Pro is expected to start in October, most likely to begin from Europe. As for now there is no information about the India launch or price of the Mi 8 Pro.
Xiaomi Play Launching in December 24th. Tipped to be a Rebranded POCO F1.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi made headlines last week by teasing their upcoming smartphone with a 48MP camera. Now Xiaomi is again on the forefront of tech news after reports emerged suggesting that the Chinese smartphone giant is working on a new device, the Xiaomi Play. Reports suggests that the new device will be announced on December 24.
The information about this upcoming device was revealed by a tipster in Weibo who claimed that Xiaomi is launching a play smartphone on December 24. Xiaomi is expected to host a launch event for the device between December 16 and December 26. While there is no other information about this smartphone, reports claims that Xiaomi is most likely to name this device as the Xiaomi Play.
The name Xiaomi Play indicates that this particular device will be a gaming oriented smartphone. While Xiaomi has it’s Black Shark range of smartphones for gaming, the new smartphone will be more like a budget gaming phone so as to compete with Honor Play that arrived in China back in June.
Another rumor suggests that the Xiaomi Play might be Chinese version of the Poco F1 which was launched in India back in August with a starting price of Rs.20,999. Apart from this, If reports are correct, then Xiaomi will soon be revealing it’s latest device sporting the 48MP camera, which is expected to be launched in the Redmi lineup.
Huawei Nova 4 Spotted in TENAA. Comes with Display Hole Camera 7
The Huawei Nova 4, which was showcased two weeks ago ahead of its launch last dayhas been spotted on TENAA ahead of it’s launch, which is scheduled for December 17, a week after the launch of Honor View 20. Both the smartphones will be sharing the same camera hole design for the front camera.
From the images posted by TENAA, we can easily make-out the “48MP AI Camera” label on the Huawei Nova 4, which must be the same camera sensor from that of Honor View 20 which was showed off recently. It does come with a triple camera setup.
The full specifications of the Huawei Nova 4 are not yet revealed completely by TENAA. But it is highly speculated that the Nova 4 will be powered by a flagship Kirin 980 chipset, same as in the Honor View 10. It features a 6.41 inch display, which is expected to be an LCD display sourced from BOE. The whole device is backed by a huge 3,900mAh battery, as per the latest information from TENAA.
The rear triple cameras are mounted vertically at the left side, with the flash beneath it. From the images posted by TENAA, we can see that the fingerprint sensor on board the Nova 4 is placed in the rear. Also, the images reveals that the Nova 4 will be having thin bezels on all three sides except the bottom. Since the Nova 4 has completely ditched the notch with the camera hole design, it is expected to skimp the IR based face unlock system which is seen in most of the latest flagship devices.
While there is no official confirmation about the pricing of the Nova 4, it is expected to be around Rs. 35,000-40,000 in the Indian market. We will update further specifications of the Nova 4 once it is revealed by TENAA.
Honor View 20 Teased & Shown Off. Comes with Display Hole Camera & 48MP Camera
Honor announced the Honor View 20 smartphone that will feature not only one but three ground breaking world-first technologies. The next generation flagship from the company will sport the world’s first 48MP camera for primary imaging along with Honor All-View Display and Honor Link Turbo. While the smartphone is scheduled to launch next year on January 20, Xiaomi is also planning to launch a smartphone with a 48MP camera next year.
The Chinese manufacturer revealed that the View 20 flagship smartphone will boast the Sony’s latest 48MP IMX586 sensor that will be delivering top quality images and will incredible details even when zoomed in. The camera will be first to have this high definition 48 effective megapixels technology and will get a boost from a dedicated dual NPU that will allow multi-frame image processing for clicking multiple images with striking details simultaneously.
Under the hood, the Honor view 20 will be powered by a Huawei’s latest Kirin 980 chipset that has dual ISP and dual-NPU technology for better AI computing and graphics processing power. This will come handy while clicking multiple photos from the 48MP camera resulting in a 48MP AI high-definition image.
The top-of the line Kirin 980 chipset is the world’s first processor based on 7nm process resulting in a 20 percent improved performance and 40 percent improved efficiency. It consists of an octa-core chipset with two ARM Cortex A76 high-performance cores that are clocked at 2.6 GHz, two ARM Cortex A76 cores clocked at 1.92 GHz and four ARM Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz for power efficiency.
Furthermore, with this smartphone Honor will be introducing the latest All-View Display that comes with an in-screen front camera design. The company says it has been achieved through complex 18-layer technology stacks that embed the front camera in the display resulting in an almost bezels less design and high screen-to-body ratio. As for the Link Turbo technology, it leverages AI to analyse user’s model and network conditions to switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi or 4G networks which in turn will boost downloading speed by simultaneously adopting both networks. It seems that Honor View 20 creates a benchmark on its own which takes smartphone photography to a whole new level.
