LG V40 ThinQ Launched. Comes with 5 Cameras!



Putting a full stop on the rumor mill, LG Mobiles has finally announced its new flagship i.e. the LG V40 ThinQ at an event held in New York City on Wednesday. The main highlights of the device are its Triple Rear cameras and the traditional stuff we usually see with LG flagships.

The LG V40 ThinQ comes with a glass sandwich design built on Military-grade standards (MIL-STD-810 certification), equipped with IP68 water and dust resistance. It sports a beautiful 6.4-inch OLED FullVision display with a Quad-HD+ resolution of 1440×3120 pixels in a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS2.1 inbuilt storage which can be expanded further up to 2TB using a MicroSD card.

In the optics department, the LG V40 ThinQ gets a triple camera at the back which comprises of a primary 12-megapixel sensor gets f/1.5 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size and 78-degree viewing angle, a second 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor comes with f/1.9 aperture, 1-micron pixel size, and 107-degree viewing angle, followed by the third 12-megapixel sensor that sports a telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, 1-micron pixel size, and 45-degree viewing angle. For Selfies, we have an 8-megapixel primary sensor (f/1.9 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size) paired with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor (f/2.2 aperture, 1.4-micron pixel size) for wider selfies.

The camera app is bundled with the third-gen AI Cam mode that recognizes up to 19 subjects and suggests 4 optimized filter options accordingly. Furthermore, the rear cameras are equipped with PDAF, HDR and a new Triple Preview feature which lets you capture pictures using all three sensors at the same time and later sort the best one out.

On the software front, it runs on LG’s Optimus UI layered on Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by a 3,300mAh battery which supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 along with fast wireless charging. Other features include DTS:X 3D Surround Sound, Face Unlock, Boombox Speaker and 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC tuned by Meridian for an immersive audio experience.

Connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack (yes, it’s still there) are given on-board. Despite this, the phone weighs quite light at 169grams.

The LG V40 ThinQ come in Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Platinum Gray, and Carmin Red color options at a price of $899.99 in the US (roughly Rs. 66,400) and will go on sale from October 18.
