LG today unveiled the LG Q7 trio (Q7, Q7+ and Q7α) smartphones which is sure to appeal customers that can’t afford a G or V series phone (the audiophiles!). The new smartphones are an upgrade to the LG Q6 equipped with serious audio power! And yes, it does appear to confirm the previous leaks.

The LG Q7 comes with Hi-Fi audio with DTS:X 3D Surround sound that can emulate 3D surround sound over headphones. The technology can simulate the 3D environment of any audio to produce 12 channels of binaural surround sound creating an immersive cinematic audio experience. The LG Q7+ variant also features Quad DAC’s like in LG G7 or V30.

The LG Q7 sport metallic bodies which are MIL-STD-810G-complaint and also IP68 rated water protected. The front houses a 5.5. inch Full Vision 2.5D LCD display with an resolution of FHD+ (2,160 x 1080 pixels) and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, they are powered by an unknown Octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz or 1.5 GHz. The LG Q7 and the Q7α  have a 3GB RAM + 32GB internal space configuration while the Q7+ comes with  4GB RAM + 64GB internal space. All three models have memory expandable options through microSD card. There is Smart rear fingerprint sensor which doubles as a shutter button, click screen shots and drag notification bar.

In the optical configuration, the Q7+ sports a 16MP rear camera while the Q7 and Q7α have a 13MP one. In the front all the smartphones have 5MP super wide angle (100 degree) selfie camera. But you may also get an 8 MP front camera depending on the region. The latest feature in the Q7 is the Portrait effect that allows users to take Bokeh effect photographs with blurred background. There is also PDAF, which is touted to be 23% faster than traditional auto-focus. The Q7 also gets the QLens which uses AI tech for recognising objects in image and efficiently search online.

They are all backed by a 3,000 mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Fast Charge which the company claims charges from 0% to 100% in just 30 minutes thanks to an USB Type-C port. The company is yet to officially announce the pricing of the smartphones.

Tecno Camon iACE and Camon iSKY 2 Launched in India, comes with AI Cameras in Budget!

Tecno, the Chinese manufacturer owned by Transsion Holdings has launched two smartphones in the country. Dubbed as the Camon iAce and Camon iSky2, the major highlights are is the big 18:9 displays and AI powered cameras.

Gaurav Tikko, the CMO of Transsion India said:

The Tecno Camon iAce feature a 5.5 inch FHD (1440 x 720) display an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is powered by a Quad-core Media MT6739WW processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB RAM and 16GB RAM and expandable memory with expandable options up to 128GB.

The dual-SIM device comes with AI powered 13MP camera on the rear and an 8MP camera on the front both having f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash. It runs on HiOS custom skin based on Android 8.1 Oreo while being backed by a 3,050 battery. It is available in Champagne Gold, Midnight Black, Midnight Blue colours. It comes with AI powered features and Face Unlocking.

As for the Tecno Camon iSky2, the device comes with similar specs expect for a dual camera setup on the rear of 13MP + 0.3MP configuration and 13MP front with dual LED flash. Additionally it has a fingerprint sensor in addition to Face Unlocking. The two devices come with one-time screen replacement warranty and 100-day free replacement and 1-month extended warranty.

The Camon iAce and Camon iSky2 comes at a price tag of Rs 6,799 and Rs 7,499 with additional benefits like instant cashback off worth Rs 2,200 from Jio, available in the form of 44 voucher worth Rs 50 each, which can be used for purchasing recharges of Rs 199 and Rs 299. The Camon iAce is available through major retailers across the country while the iSky 2 will go sale from August 20.

OPPO R17 with In Display Fingerprint is Official Now!

We have witnessed the OPPO R17 earlier passing TENAA and 3C certifications followed by leaked live images. Now, the mid-end flagship device has been listed on Oppo’s official Chinese website, revealing most of its specifications and features.

The OPPO R17 looks very similar to the recently teased OPPO F9 Pro, which is scheduled to launch in India on August 21. The phone comes with a glass back panel with gradient finish and has a “teardrop” notch design similar to that of the F9 Pro.

Furthermore, the listing reveals that the OPPO R17 sports a 6.4-inch FullView AMOLED display with a resolution of Full HD+ (2280×1080 pixels) resulting in a 91.5% screen-to-body ratio. For protection, the display is covered by the layer of Gorilla Glass 6, which makes it the first phone to comes with Gorilla Glass 6 display. Interestingly, it is the first Oppo phone to debut with a 2mm x 2mm in-screen fingerprint scanner, which was skipped in the Oppo Find X.

The OPPO R17 packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC at its core (first in the market to do so), coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

In the optics department, the phone sports a vertically stacked dual camera setup consisting of 16MP shooter along with a 20MP secondary shooter at the rear. For Selfies, we have a 25MP Sony IMX576 sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 at the front. Moreover, the camera app packs nifty AI features including the AI-portrait mode.

The device is backed by a 3,500mAh battery with Oppo’s VOOC fast charging technology which is claimed to deliver two hours of battery life within five minutes of charge.

On the software front, the device runs on ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Moving on, the connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C.

Additionally, a Weibo post confirmed that the company will also be launching the R17 Pro soon. The Oppo R17 is reported to go for pre-orders on August 18, however, there are no announcements by Oppo regarding the Indian launch. Stay tuned for more information.

Nokia 5.1 & Nokia 2.1 Launched in India, along with Nokia 3.1 3GB Variant.

HMD Global showcased their new generation Nokia phones, Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5.1 for the first time in a media event in Russia a few months ago. Since then, these phones didn’t make its way to India except the Nokia 3.1 2 GB RAM variant. When the Nokia 3.1 2GB RAM variant was launched in India, it was rumored that the 3 GB RAM variant would be unveiled soon in India, now they have launched it along with Nokia 5.1 & Nokia 3.1 in India.

Yesterday, HMD Global launched these devices in India. All the three devices are the latest iterations of their previous generation counterparts. These devices mainly concentrate on the budget segment and will face heavy competition from bands like Xiaomi and Asus.

The Nokia 2.1 sports a 5.5-inch 16:9 display of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset coupled with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. The device offers an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. In terms of software, it is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and is part of the Android Go program and is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery. The device will be available in Blue/Copper, Blue/Silver and Grey/Silver color variants.

Talking about the specifications, the Nokia 3.1 features a 5.2-inch 18:9 display with a resolution of HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) protected by Oleophobic coating Gorilla Glass. It houses an Octa-core MediaTek MT6750 chipset and comes in two configurations: 2GB RAM + 16GB internal storage and 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD card.

In terms of optics, the rear camera is a 13 MP sensor while the front camera is 8 MP. The device draws juice from a 2990 mAh battery and the fingerprint sensor is placed at the back. It will be available in Blue/Copper, Black/Chrome, and White/Iron color variants.

Coming to the Nokia 5.1, it has a 5.5-inch 18:9 display with FHD+ resolution (2160 x 1080 pixels).  The handset is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P18 chipset and will be available in two configurations: 2 GB RAM + 16 GB internal storage and 3 GB RAM + 32 GB internal storage with further expandable memory options via microSD card.

The camera used is a 16 MP rear sensor while offering an 8 MP sensor on the front. It is backed by a 2970 mAh battery and comes with a circular fingerprint sensor at the rear. The device will be available in Copper, Tempered Blue, Black color variants.

As far as the pricing of the devices is concerned, the Nokia 2.1 is priced at Rs. 6,999 while the Nokia 3.1 3GB and Nokia 5.1 are priced at Rs. 11,999 and Rs. 14,499 respectively. All the three devices will be available to purchase from August 12 at online retailers like Paytm mall and Nokia online store.
