After staying quiet for a while (and ofcourse the dissapointing launch of Lenovo Z5) in the smartphone market, Lenovo is all set to make a come back and has showcased their upcoming device with a full screen display and pop-up camera. The design of the new device was demonstrated by Liu Jun, the vice president of Lenovo in an interview. If you didn’t already saw the phone’s previously leaked video, take a look at it here:
The periscope camera design, popularly known as the pop-up camera, was made popular by Oppo through their Oppo Find X, which not only had a pop-up camera, but also a 93.8% display ratio, with ultra thin bezels. Now more and more smartphone manufacturers are joining the bandwagon, with Xiaomi and Huawei following the same design. Although this phone is particularly similar to what Mi Mix 3 has shown previously.
The news of Lenovo working on a similar device was revealed by Lenovo Vice President Chang, and the design was revealed during Lenovo TechWorld 2018 event held earlier in China. Eventhough the design is revealed, there isn’t any news about the specification of the device from Lenovo. Liu Jun also said that the device will sport an in-screen fingerprint scanner, helping in further increasing the display ratio.
Lenovo is expected to launch the device before the end of his year ahead of the competitors, in a bid to reclaim it’s lost market share and authenticity, after their Z5 blunder. It is also speculated that this device will belong to the Lenovo brand itself, instead of Motorola.
As we said earlier, Huawei and Xiaomi are all set to launch their similar looking devices. While the Huawei has revealed that the Honor Magic 2 has a similar looking design, Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is also expected to have a periscope structure. The Honor Magic 2 will be launched in October and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will be launched in coming days.

Realme U1 to launch in India on Nov 28 as an Amazon Exclusive
Recently, we heard the rumours of Realme working on a selfie-centric U-series smartphone. Now, before leaks could popularise the device, the company has announced the debut date of the same by putting a teaser on the e-commerce giant Amazon.
As per the landing page on Amazon.in, the Realme U1 is touted to bear the “Most Powerful Selfie Camera Ever” backed by a high-res depth engine with accurate AI detection. Furthermore, it will feature a dew-drop notch and also will be the first smartphone to debut with MediaTek Helio P70 SoC. The device is scheduled to unveil on the 28th of November, at 12:30 PM IST.
To recall, Madhav Seth, CEO, Realme India previously confirmed that Realme would be the first one to make use of new MediaTek Helio P70 chipset built on the 12nm FinFet process. This freshly unveiled chipset bears four Cortex A73 performance cores coupled with four low-powered Cortex A53 cores that are clocked at 2.1GHz along with a dedicated co-processor for performing AI tasks, offering significant improvements concerning performance and efficiency over the Helio P60 used on the first gen Realme 1.
Apart from the dew-drop notch and chipset, we don’t have much information regarding the device. Although, an earlier GeekBench listing suggested the phone to come with Android 8.1 Oreo and 4GB of RAM.
That being said, the Realme U1 will be the fifth smartphone by the company under the third U-series lineup. With just four devices, Realme has witnessed a phenomenal growth regarding sales. They have also expanded to countries like Indonesia and Malaysia. Apart from this, the company has gone through certain events like the recent price hike followed by the logo change.
This new Selfie pro might be a game-changer for the company if priced correctly. Given that the launch is around a week to go, let’s wait and watch. Stay tuned.
