iPhone X Gold Variant Spotted in FCC, Launching Soon?

Published

on

Apple is working on an iPhone X Gold Variant (also a gold variant for the successor of iPhone X), which was a rumor but now it is confirmed that Apple is indeed working on an iPhone X Gold variant as a photo of the same was spotted on Federal Communications Commission listing.

The prototype iPhone X has a rich gold stainless steel frame and a very light gold glass back, the shade of which is quite close to that of iPhone 8. The annotations say that the phone comes with an LCD display, which is quite shocking to many as iPhone X has an OLED panel. However, it is same as iPhone X.

Also, the iPhone X Gold variant has European markings. The documentation indicates that this iPhone X has a ‘A1903’ model identifier, whereas the current iPhone X models have identifiers ‘A1865’, ‘A1901’, and ‘A1902’.

Another confusing thing about this iPhone X old Variant is that the photos were taken several months before even the iPhone X was unveiled. As per MacRumors, it is possible that Apple actually planned to launch the iPhone X in three colors — gold, silver and space gray. And probably, due to production issues Apple gave up on that plan and continued with Space Gray and White/Silver iPhone X. Apple also released iPhone 8 and 8 Plus under the Product Red Lineup, and those two phones come with a subtle red finish. However, an iPhone X Red Edition has not been introduced yet.

The 3C doesn’t offer much information other than the charging rate. The M1901F7E, M1901F7T and M1901F7C comes with support for 10W charging hinting that it will be affordable smartphone from the company.

Last month two Xiaomi smartphone with model number M1901F9T and M1901F9E smartphones passed 3C certification. The two smartphones were revealed to have support for the 10W charging. The Chinese manufacturer is yet to launch the Redmi 6 Pro in China. Hence, it is speculated that the M1901F9T and M1901F9E might be the Redmi 6 Pro. However, like its predecessor, Redmi Note 5, it is expected to launch under the Redmi Note 6 moniker. Like the global variant, the Redmi Note 6 pro will include a 10W charge but may carry support for 18W fast charging.

The recently appeared Xiaomi M1901F7T, M1901F7E and M1901F7C models are expected to launch after the Note 6. So there is a strong possibility that it is one of the phones from the Redmi 7 series, which includes further divisions like Redmi 7 and Redmi 7 Pro. Currently, there is not any information available about the handset.

All the handsets Xiaomi released this year had a “M18” in the start of their model numbers while the above mentioned devices have “M19” in their names indicating that they will be launched next year. So we can expect the company to launch the Redmi Note 6 and the Redmi 7 series in the first quarter of 2019. Though the phones have not yet cleared any other certification they are expected to appear soon into benchmarking websites and other certifications revealing more details about the handsets.
