Seems like both Huawei and Samsung are now into the race for the world’s first ever OEM to launch the foldable smartphone. Huawei has also announced the expected launch, the company might unveil the device in the month of November this year. According to the report, Huawei has tied up with LG to produce a smartphone which can easily fold inwards and offers a much more compact form factor.
Now talking about the foldable devices, ZTE has launched the Axon M last year but unfortunately, those were two different displays which had a hinge in between.
As per the reports from ETNews, we got to know that the smartphone part manufactures have signed the NDA(Non-Disclosure Agreement) so now there won’t be any news in regards with the new technology which is being used in these foldable smartphones. Regarding this project, we are expecting Huawei to source out the LED panels from LG because LG has recently announced the foldable displays which are ready for the production by the year 2019.
Here is a statement from Huawei which has been translated to English,
“We felt strongly that we would reverse the market dominance with the release of the foldable smartphone, which is more complete than [the one from] Samsung Electronics.”
Recently even Samsung has announced in a meet that it would be soon launching its foldable smartphones. But then again, we are not expecting any of the manufactures to launch those so-called perfect device, we still gotta wait for a couple of years because the initial year would definitely be a trial and error period.
Vivo may be preparing an Online only Smartphone to Counter Online competition!
Realme has surely made its name in the market with its ‘Youth-focused’ designs, even though they say they’re an independent brand, they’re still technically under Oppo. It recently launched the Realme 2 and is gearing up for the launch of Realme 2 Pro. In response to this, Oppo’s sister company Vivo may launch its own online-exclusive smartphone.
Vivo currently has both online and offline presence in the Indian market. It is speculated that the upcoming smartphone will be from the Z-series which hints to a mid-range device.
The reports sources claim that the company is bringing the online-exclusive handset in the Indian market to compete against Realme series smartphone. It still unknown which Z series smartphone brand it will be launched under. The company recently launched the Vivo Z1i in China which features a 6.25 inch FHD+ IPS display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm SD 636 chipset paired with Adreno 509 GPU and coupled with 4GB RAM and 129GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB through a microSD card.
In the optics department, the Vivo Z1i sports a dual camera setup in the rear of 13MP + 2MP configuration while offering a 16MP on the front of selfies and video calling. The handset runs Android 8.1 Oreo and is backed by a 3,260 mAh battery. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS.
However it is not sure if the company will launch the Vivo Z1i or a complete different smartphone made for the Indian market. So we advise you to take this news with a pinch of salt.
Is Nokia is working on a Gaming Phone?
Gaming smartphones are the becoming more popular with more and more manufacturers developing their own gaming smartphone. The latest company to join this list is HMD Global who is teasing a Nokia gaming smartphone for the first time.
Nokia Mobile India had tweeted out a video which seems to be teasing a gaming phone. But it was quickly deleted after sometime. You can see the teaser in the featured image.
The teaser comes in the form of a video which reads “Stay tuned for a phone you can #GameOn”. It was posted on the official Indian Twitter handle of the company hinting towards a Nokia branded gaming smartphone from the company.
Leaving aside the excitement, we will like to remind you that the company has a habit of over-hyping and over-exaggerating its routine mid-range smartphones.
The company advertised the Nokia 6.1 Plus smartphone as the “most awaited phone”. Moreover the tag #GameOn might be just to hype the regional launch of the Nokia 5.1 Plus and nothing to do with Nokia Gaming smartphone.
However if it is the case, the company is once again over-hyping since the smartphone comes with a 5.8 inch display and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 SoC coupled with P60 chipset. Also it also possible that it is the alleged Nokia 8.1 Plus or Nokia 7.1 Plus which have been on the rumours lately.
However seeing the popularity of gaming smartphones, the company is likely developing a gaming smartphone on its own. Razer recently sent invites for the Razer 2 smartphone to be launched on October 10. Chinese manufacturer Huawei will also be releasing a gaming smartphone this year. The Nokia Gaming smartphone will be competing against the likes of Xiaomi Black Shark, ASUS ROG phone and Nubia Red Magic.
Samsung to merge Galaxy J series into A series, rebrand On series to M series
Samsung is reportedly planning to reorganise its entire line-up of entry level to upper mid-range line-up according to a new report. Previously we heard that the South Korean manufacturer will be merging the Galaxy S series and the Note series.
The new reports which come from industry sources claims that the lower midrange Galaxy J series will be discontinued and merged into the more premium Galaxy A series. This move of scrapping the Galaxy J series and moving into the Galaxy A series line-up can be cited to the heavy competition from the Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Honor, Vivo, OPPO, etc that dominates the entry level and mid-range segments.
Additionally, the company will be changing its online only Galaxy On brand to a new Galaxy M series. However it is expected as the Galaxy On smartphones are just rebranded Galaxy J devices. So it is still unknown what Samsung has to offer in its Galaxy M series.
This could also be possible that Samsung bring the entry level and lower-midrangers under the Galaxy M brand while the upper midrangers will be merged into the Galaxy A line-up. There will be less naming disparencies and hence less confusion. The company is also rumoured to be working on Galaxy J4 Prime and Galaxy J6 Prime which is now likely to be launched under a different brand.
Considering all above information as genuine, Samsung will left only with Galaxy S series, Galaxy A series and Galaxy M series which looks more systematic and organised.
