Huawei teases Y9 Prime 2019. Compares it with Redmi K20

Published

So this isn’t something you’ll see every other day.

This is actually a pretty rare occurance.

Huawei is comparing their phone with a Redmi phone, the Redmi K20.

Take a look at the post.

Why is it a rare thing? Lemme tell you why. That’s because Huawei has always been a Premium tier 1 brand in India and all around the world. They never used to compare itself with Xiaomi, or even acknowledge them.

This time around, we can clearly see the post from Huawei India targeted clearly at Xiaomi’s Redmi K20.

Given that Huawei has a sub-brand which takes care of fighting in the budget segment, this is a pretty rare occurrence to say the least.

Talking about the device, like Redmi K20, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 comes with a pop up selfie camera. It comes with a 6.59 inch FHD+ LCD display.

If you were expecting the all too powerful Kirin 810 with this device, you’re going to be disappointed, as this one is coming with an ageing Kirin 710 SoC, which we’ve seen in most of the Huawei & Honor mid rangers from last year.

Talking about the cameras, there is a 16MP primary shooter coupled with an 8MP ultra wide and 2MP depth sensor. And there’s a 16MP selfie shooter which pops up.

The device is going to be launched on August 1st in India. Let’s just wait for that now!

The renders of the upcoming flagship from OnePlus, the OnePlus 8 Pro has been leaked online, and it gives away the key design factors. Based on the leaked render, the OnePlus 8 Pro will feature the same punch-hole display as seen on the OnePlus 8. But there is a catch. The upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a Quad camera setup as opposed to the triple camera on the OP 8. In similar incidents, the renders of the OnePlus 8 was leaked even before the OnePlus 7T was launched.

Rumors suggest that the quad-camera in the 8 Pro model will be a new 3D ToF sensor. If the rumors are true, then the OnePlus 8 Pro will be the first smartphone from the manufacturer that uses a ToF sensor. Speaking of the design, the OnePlus 8 Pro is much like it’s ancestor, and is expected to come with a 90Hz display with curved edges. However, there might be a slight size difference, since the 8 Pro will be coming with a 6.65-inch display instead of the 6.5-inch display as expected on the OnePlus 8.

The speaker grills on the OnePlus 8 Pro are also redesigned as per the renders. It was earlier seen on the renders of the OnePlus 8. Looking at the renders, it is easily noticeable that there isn’t much difference in the other design elements when the OnePlus series is moving forward to its next flagship.

The USB Type-C port remains in the middle of the bottom edge. Apart from that, the alert slider and power button can be found on the right edge, and the volume rocker is still on the left edge. However, the leaked renders reveal that the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro will be slightly higher and slimmer than it’s a sibling.

The specifications of the OnePlus 8 Pro is not known as of now. However, as far as the design is concerned, the OnePlus 8 Pro follows the same design theme as of the OnePlus 8 with only a few updates.

Motorola, once a pioneering brand but now a mere subsidiary of Lenovo seems to be desperate to get back into the smartphone race again. Recently Motorola launched quite a few smartphones under its Moto One Series. And now, another upcoming Moto One smartphone has been leaked. Looks like Spanish publication ProAndroid has already managed to get the device in hand as some real-life photos have been leaked.

The upcoming Moto One smartphone has a bezel-less display, thanks to the pop-up selfie camera, the first one a Moto smartphone. ProAndroid has made some claims regarding the specifications of the device. The device is said to feature a 6.39-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD. There is a pop-up selfie camera, but at the back, there is a dual-camera setup- A primary lens and a depth sensor. There is an LED flash separated from the protruding camera module and now, the Motorola One branding has been placed vertically. On the back, there is a fingerprint scanner as well, but sadly there is no Motorola branding on it. However, there is an LED ring surrounding the fingerprint sensor.

Also, there seems to be another Moto One smartphone which is said to have a 32MP pop-up selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. However, on the back it has got a triple camera setup- a 64MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, and a depth sensor. The rear camera is said to be capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps, Full HD videos at up to 60fps, Full HD slow-motion videos at up to 120fps, and HD slow-motion videos at up to 240fps.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The phone will be running Android 10 out of the box and just like every other Moto One smartphone, it will run Stock Android. The phone packs a 3,600mAh battery and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. But there will also be a 3.5mm headphone jack. These are many speculations regarding the phone as some source say it could be the upcoming Moto G8 and G8 Plus, but it’s not confirmed yet.

Microsoft Surface Duo Foldable Dual Display Android Smartphone to Arrive Next Year!

Published

on

At the Microsoft 2019 event in NYC, the company unveiled its next generated of Surface Devices that will hit the market in 2020, including the dual-screen Surface Neo tablet. The Windows software also had one more surprise: the Microsoft Surface Duo, a smaller Android smartphone with two screens. The company was careful not to provide much detail about the Surface Duo, which will be accompanied by another large dual screen device called the Surface Neo.

Microsoft Product Chief Panos Panay said

This product brings together the absolute best of Microsoft, and we’re partnering with Google to bring the absolute best of Android in one product. This is industry pushing technology.

Microsoft tried its hands-on mobile operating system for two decades without success. With the high competition of Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS, the company gave up on the effort two years ago and moved to expand its Office software and other services to rival devices. Now, it is ready for its first Android smartphone launch.

This is the first time we are hearing about this product. The Surface Neo is a larger tabled sized device while the Duo is made for handheld used with two 5.6 inch displays split by a visible center hinge and unfolds into a bigger 8.3-inch split screen. In that sense, it will not be as seamless as the Huawei Mate X or the Samsung Galaxy Fold. But with a Gorilla Glass protection, it might give an edge over the Galaxy Fold’s plastic display problems.

Microsoft is partnering with Google for bringing “the best of Android into one product”, Panay said. This means the Surface Duo will be able to run every single app in the Android ecosystem. “With Surface Duo, we are building upon Android to marry cutting edge hardware with familiar software and services”, Microsoft explains in its blog post. We’re excited to work with developers and the industry to create the next wave of dual-screen computing and unlock a new era of mobile creativity”.

Interestingly, Microsoft wouldn’t label it as a phone and instead calls it a “communications device”. The Windows blog mentions the duo can take phone calls but didn’t mention whether it will support SIM cards and sold by carriers as smartphone-categorized devices. Going by the listed specs of the Surface Neo, the Duo may feature the same Custom Intel Lakefield processor that packs Intel Gen11 graphics.

The company didn’t give an exact launch date but it said it will be available on holiday 2020. Microsoft isn’t the first company to make a smartphone with two displays but it is sure hoping to make a triumphant return.
