Chinese manufacturer Huawei has joined hands with Indian consumer electronics firm Micromax Informatics to boost its offline and well as online sales in the Indian market. Huawei is currently the second largest smartphone seller just behind Samsung and entered the Indian market in 2018. It sold 200 million smartphones in its debut year and shipped 100 million devices by the end of this May.
Rishi Kishor Gupta, Vice President of Huawei, Consumer Business Group, Huawei India said
We have partnered with Micromax to launch our smartphones at multibrand outlets in India
Deepti Mehra, Head, Marketing of Micromax Informatics confirmed
In Micromax brand stores, Micromax phones will be available. But as far as the distribution and retail network that we have, Huawei will be capitalising on that
There will be no co-branding. Micromax will continue separately when it comes to launching of own phones. There is no conflict of interest because Micromax addresses to the mass segment and Huawei the premium category
After Huawei entered the Indian market, it made a partnership for launching offline products exclusively with Chroma. After that it made a deal with Poorvika Mobiles to expand its reached to the southern states. Now with Micromax, the company is planning to spread across the country starting from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Dehradun and Kolkata.
Tornado Pan, Country Head of Huawei Brand, Consumer Business Group, Huawei India said
With an aim to be present where our consumers are, we plan to focus on a robust offline distribution network catering to the needs of consumers in urban as well as rural regions and to make them experience the innovative technology that has won the hearts of customers’ world over
This deal exists only for the Huawei smartphones and not for Huawei’s sub-brand Honor. Honor smartphones are usually launched in the mid-range segment while Huawei smartphone tend to be in premium and upper-level flagships. Huawei brings flagship devices in the P and Mate lines with the P series with the mainstream consumers while the Mates are more photo-minded phablets.
Manufacturers like Samsung, OPPO, Realme, Xiaomi and Vivo are already focusing on creating a offline sales network in India. Huawei would benefit with pre-existing Micromax’s chain of offline retail stores.
