on

Huawei is now officially back in the innovation game by unveiling its foldable phone today in MWC 2019 held at Barcelona. This is not the first time we are witnessing a foldable phone, in fact, Samsung announced its version of the foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold just a few days back in Unpacked event.

It all started with brands trying to reduce the bezels on their devices. We have seen big notches, tear-drop shaped notches, mechanical sliders, and even pop-up selfie cameras. Now. manufacturers are trying to level up the display experience with foldable phones.

Yesterday, we had witnessed a leak which revealed the name of the foldable phone, the Huawei Mate X. The major difference between the Galaxy Fold and the Mate X is the folding mechanism. Galaxy Fold folds inwards to bring the secondary display while the Mate X folds outwards so that the primary display is visible only when it is held in normal mode.

The Huawei Mate X measures 8-inches when unfolded with a screen resolution of 2480×2200. The aspect ratio when unfolded is 8:7.1. On normal mode, it measures 6.6-inches with 2480×1148 pixel resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The rear side on the other hand measures 6.38-inches with 2480×892 pixel resolution and 25:9 aspect ratio. Check out the entire gallery below.

The fingerprint scanner is present on the device and it is embedded in the power button.

The device comes with support for 5G making it the first ever Huawei device to come with 5G connectivity. Under the hood, it is powered by Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset. There will be 8 GB of RAM coupled with 512 GB of internal storage. All these are powered by a 4,500mAh battery.
